[PICS] 1986 Corvettes Customized on SPEED's Car Warriors From Us on Twitter

Last night on SPEED, we watched two shops from California duke it out as they attempted to modify and customize a 1986 Corvette in 48 hours. In the end, the blue team hailing from Shinbone Alley in Fresno came out on top with their 1986 Corvette which was finished in two-tone black and copper. The red team, from Sledsville in So-Cal, also went black and gold with their build, but their ambitious plan for customizing their Corvette was just too much to accomplish in 48 hours. Our friends at SPEED sent us some additional photography of the cars taken during filming of the show and we’ll share them with you after the jump.

Our friends are Jalopnik.com recently shared a tale that should make every Corvette owner’s blood boil with anger and sadness.

[PIC] Instragam Captures Aftermath of Corvette Accidents

I wouldn’t technically call this a fail as fail usually denotes that the person behind the wheel of the car is somehow at fault for doing something stupid. So having said that, we came across an instagram tweet late this afternoon from @chrisgoulet that said the following:

“Has anyone seen my #vette? #corvette #fail”

We retweeted the photo and asked for details. @ChrisGoulet replied:

“Construction + double-lane left-hand turn = side-swiped and run off the road.”

Corvette Racing at Long Beach: Racin' in the Streets

Chevy Team Races Against the Clock and GT Rivals on Waterfront Circuit

LONG BEACH, Calif., April 6, 2012 – Now for something completely different in the second round of the 2012 American Le Mans Series. Instead of the wide-open expanse of Sebring, Corvette Racing will compete in the concrete-lined canyons of downtown Long Beach. Instead of 12 grueling hours in central Florida, the ALMS at Long Beach will condense the competition into 120 minutes of close-quarter combat. What hasn’t changed, however, is the imperative to perform. With 20 championship points to be won on the waterfront street circuit on Saturday, April 14, the Chevrolet team will be fighting for a victory.
