Is the owner of this 1958 Corvette being a little too optimistic?
Or do you agree with his assessment that with just a weekend of work, this vintage C1 could be back on the road once more?
Located in Walker, Louisiana, it’s now up for the taking on eBay, where apparently there are a lot of folks who wouldn’t mind a busy weekend after sending the high bid all the way to $39,100 – with four days left in the auction.
Looking rather dark and dreary these days, the car was originally much brighter as it left the St. Louis factory with a fresh coat of Panama Yellow paint that sadly is long gone. To get it ready for a repaint, the buyer will first need to repair a split in the driver’s side front fender, while also taking care of the cracked windshield.
One interesting feature of this car is that it was ordered without a canvas top and instead with just a hardtop and no sun visors.
Not much information is offered about the current drivetrain, though the seller does give some CU code numbers that indicate it’s correct for the time period. But we don’t know if it’s the numbers-matching engine. On the other hand, he does say it should be up and running again simply if the accessories are hooked back up.
If you do manage to get it rolling down the road again, you should be able to get it stopped again since a disc brake conversion has already been done on the front.
So are you optimistic about what it will take to get this old C1 on the road again, or are you going to pass on this one?
