[VIDEO] Supercharged C6 Corvette Grand Sport Chases 200 MPH on the Autobahn

It’s V8:00 in Germany, friends. That means Max from the Germany-based but English-speaking AutoTopNL YouTube channel has some go-fast goodness to share with his 3.81 million subscribers, and when a Blade Silver and Supercharged LS3 Grand Sport is involved, that impressive follower count includes your friendly neighborhood Corvette Bloggers!

Much like our favorite US YouTubers, Max relies on the generosity of others to feature a wide variety of performance cars. Today’s star ‘Vette, comes to your screen from the heart of Porsche country, courtesy of a German Corvette fanatic named Matt, who is described as a young fellow already on his third example of America’s Sports Car – so, our kind of guy!

With that foundational knowledge, the video in question begins with a four-and-a-half-minute walk around that serves as an excellent reminder of how well the C6 has aged; it is a truly timeless piece of Americana! Chapter two takes us under the hood, where we are greeted by the beautiful familiarity of the LS3 V8, which debuted in 2008 and remains THE go-to motivator of hot rodders and restomomdders the world over, only this one comes with a twist, quite literally. Nestled fore/slightly starboard of the engine block is a ProCharger supercharger. It is claimed that this unit boosts the silver bullet to some 625 HP, making it more-or-less a non-blasphemous six-speed auto ZR1, as we find out once onboard. The interior has been very tastefully upgraded. Suede abounds, and the infamous Cobalt-spec wheel has been replaced with a thick-rimmed, flat-bottomed piece that adds to the upscale look.

Finally, around the 7:30 mark, Max hits the starter and takes us for a little spin to an unlimited section of the Autobahn, where he briefly lets loose under a bridge, unleashing the unbeatable sound of Detroit! By minute 11, he is chasing numbers in the left lane, and the ProCharged C6 doesn’t disappoint in its willingness to sprint. Multiple runs result in an indicated top speed of 310 kph, which translates to just under 193 miles per hour! After he sneaks in the obligatory European shots at the crude – but amusing – nature of American automotive manufacturing, the final attempt included some kind of timed run where the parameters weren’t immediately clear to your author, but the car’s 7.47-second et. places it in some respectable company, tied with a 2019 Hellcat Challenger, and just a tenth behind far more exotic machinery like an Audi R8 GT and a PDK-shifted 992 911 GT3. Then, just as quickly as they started, the high-speed antics come to an end, and we have to say goodbye.
