Corvettes for Sale: Rare Fairway Green 1998 C5 Corvette on Craigslist for $15K

If you’re looking for an inexpensive way to get into the Corvette hobby but still want to stand out in a crowd, you might want to take a look at this Fairway Green Metallic 1998 Corvette coupe being offered in the Denver, Colorado area for an asking price of just $15,000.

This color was only offered the first two years of C5 production, and it wasn’t chosen by a lot of customers back in the day. In fact, in ’97 only 155 coupes were Fairway Green, and in ’98, that number dropped even lower to 153. (If you really want to be unique, try finding a ’98 convertible this color as only 70 were built!)

The current owner says it was love at first sight when he went to buy the car from an Army guy in the Springs and he still “love(s) it just as much” now.

Despite the affordable price, the owner describes his Corvette “as a very solid running car” with its 345-horsepower LS1 engine and 4L60E automatic transmission “both in great shape.” You can also hear the aftermarket Borla H pipe exhaust on a YouTube link, and it sounds pretty nice. We also think the Z06-style black wheels add a touch of “meanness” to the look of this car.

He says the car “drives great” with “no vibrations” and is “smooth at highway speeds.” The brakes and rotors were done in 2023, and the power windows still work fine, as does the heater, though the A/C could use a recharge. “Tons of horsepower and torque when needed,” the seller notes, “but I personally grandma this car. Every now and again on I-25 I’ll open her up for a half mile stretch but nothing more than that.”

The car is not without its issues, though. While the nicely contrasting Light Oak interior is overall in good condition, the bottom seat covers are starting to split, showing their 110,000 miles of use, and the seller admits the car could use a paint correction “but she’s still super pretty as is.” An accident in the Walmart parking lot also left some white spots on the hood, but he says there was no structural damage, “just marks.”

If you happen to be a big fan of Fairway Green, it might take a while to find another one since it’s such a rare color. And if you happen to have a T-top Trans Am, Firebird, A body, F body, classic muscle car, or even a truck, the seller indicates he is open to a trade, though he admits “cash is always king.”

  1. While looking at the first pic of this car with its Fairway Green paint and black C7 Z06 replica wheels I thought it’s not too bad for $15,000. After seeing the pics of the ripped up seats and reading that has 110,000 miles and needs paint correction my thoughts on this car changed and now I’m like NO THANKS.

  2. Dark green on a non-British sports-car is automatically worth 10% less than a comparable car in a different color.

There are very few exceptions to this rule. And it would have to be a very special kind of car with a very special kind of green color. Like a 1996 Stealth R/T in Olive Pearl.
