This video is wrong on so many levels that I don’t know where to begin. I’d wager that most of us (me included) have done something stupid in our Corvettes. But to then have your moment of stupidity uploaded to youtube for all posterity is a badge of shame I’d wish on no one.
In October, we posted a video claiming to show the fastest quarter mile time set for a bone-stock Corvette ZR1. That run of 10.851 @ 129.89 MPH was just eclipsed last week by Corvette Forum member “blownlt1&c6z” who ran 10.74 @ 133.21 mph in his bone-stock (including tires) 2009 Corvette ZR1. Both these runs happened at the same track – Maryland International Raceway.
According to Kelley Blue Book, Chevrolet’s Corvette is one of 2010′s top 10 vehicles for having the best resale value. The survey recognizes those vehicles based on their projected retained value five years from now.
Another 75 workers at the Bowling Green Assembly Plant will be laid off as GM continues to slow production of its iconic sports car amid the current economic slowdown. To deal with slower demand, plant officials are also cutting back hourly production from 11 to 8 Corvettes. Last year, the plant employed 1,100 works and produced Corvettes at a clip of 18.5 cars per hour. It’s been a tough year for the Corvette plant. In addition to the slowdowns and layoffs, temporary shutdowns have closed plant for a total of 26 weeks.

Lingenfelter had their Corvette ZR1 test mule making quarter mile passes at Maryland International Raceway on December 7th and during one of the runs, the Corvette ran 9.81 @ 145.74 mph. This is believed to be the first Corvette ZR1 to see the 9′s on a quarter mile run.
Episode 3 completes the three part visit with Pradt Race Engineering.
I don’t refer to many Corvettes as “wicked” but I was flipping through eBay’s Corvette listings tonight and this serious-looking 1963 Corvette Grand Sport recreation caught my eye. Painted Silver with a Black stripe, the Grand Sport’s coupe body just rocks. Under the hood rocks too with a Chevrolet 464 crate engine mated to a 6-speed transmission.
