[VIDEO] C6 Corvette Chases Down a Ford GT40 at the Silverstone GP

This video caught me at just the right frame of mind. A couple of drinks into my Makers Mark on a Friday night and I come across this on-track video of a C6 Corvette racing in February 2024’s Silverstone GP.

We think of track Corvettes as having mostly track miles on them but this C6 Corvette nicknamed “Clive” is rocking 228K miles on the odometer. Age before beauty, right? This Corvette doesn’t have a care in the world as its driver expertly weaves through the field before coming across a Ford GT40. Cue the mission music because this favorite American Sports Car is about to show the GT40 why its best days are history.

Despite its age, this GT40 still has some legs and easily pulls away from the Corvette curve after curve despite the American’s unwanted advances. Eventually, the Corvette is able to take advantage of track position and shoots the gap as the GT40 goes wide in a corner. Like a gentleman racer, the C6 Corvette driver throws a salute to the Ford driver for the well-fought battle.

Clive The Corvette is a 228,000 mile ‘base’ C6, used as my daily driver and track car. Competing here in the VSCC Pomeroy Trophy, open to road and race cars of almost any age. Each car has a target number of laps to achieve.

  1. That was fun watching the C6 driver reeling in the GT 40 and the Boxster and then dominating both of them.

  2. Pretty cool vid, that GT 40 still has some grunt and that C6 is a runner. 228k really? The C6 may be a little modded but they run damn good stock, I know I’m on my second C6. To bad the track was wet, the Vette could have put them all away sooner, but he got to third place from 27th, awesome. Good old American muscle:) Wish there was more info on the Vette.

  3. Thanks for featuring my video Keith/Corvette Blogger. 🙂 Yes, ‘Clive’ really has covered 228,000 miles. I’ve turned the photos from the adventures I’ve had in the States, Europe and North Africa into three children’s books, here’s the first: https: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1838490809
The engine is a stock power LS2, aside from headers. It’s even on the stock tune. I try to stay on top of maintenance, so when I changed the Harmonic Balancer some years back I also replaced things like the oil and water pumps, chain, pushrods, valve springs, stem seals etc. It’s got everything it needs for more power, like a cam, but reliability is important to me, as it’s my daily driver.
It does have other modifications, like Improved racing sump baffles and oil cooler, 4.1 axle, KW dampers (still on leaf springs), Z06 sway bars and Caddy front calipers with Mintex F series pads.
Inside it has Sparco race seats and a harness bar. Other than that, it’s a stock C6 base, making about 410bhp at the flywheel.
I have a backstory video planned for next month and will reveal the next big roadtrip shortly. Meantime, you can read more about my car here: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c6-corvette-general-discussion/4692600-my-corvette-changed-my-life.html
