Corvettes For Sale: You Can Bid to Win 2019 Corvette ZR1 #004 through 427 Day!

“Strike while the iron is hot!” We think it’s safe to say that those words perfectly sum up the current state of the C7 ZR1 market. Over the past year, we’ve seen so many noteworthy examples cross the auction block or otherwise attempt to change hands; there was the final 2019 convertible, quite possibly the lowest mileage example in the world, and even the polarizing ZR1 Callaway AeroWagon, just to name a few that have made our front page since the start of the current school year. With some prices reaching more than double the model’s original MSRP and the added hype of an eminent ZR1 reveal (just the 5th in recorded history, and the 4th where “ZR1” really meant ZR1!), it’s easy to see why so many owners are testing the waters.

Somehow, today’s example, from Hess Auction Group, might be the best of this illustrious bunch. As an added bonus, this post represents a homecoming of sorts, as we covered its sale in the Summer of ’22 when we dubbed it “one of the most significant” individual 2019 ZR1s ever made. Nearly two years later, not much has changed. It’s still one of just 2,953 ZR1s made in 2019 as a grand finale for not only the seventh generation of America’s Sports Car but for the front-engine Corvette that we had loved since 1953. It still has the Holy Trinity of options: 7-speed manual transmission (one of 884), the “big wing” ZTK track package (one of 2,077), and the Sebring Orange Design Package (one of 758). And, at 3,494 miles, its odometer has only turned over forty times since we saw it last.

What is different for #$4 this time around is the amount of money that people are willing to spend on the one-year Corvette that represents the last hurrah for the clutch pedal and the traditional long hood, short decklid proportions of the most iconic car of the last 75 years. In the 2022 post, commenter “Mako” lamented that the car was nice but “not worth” its then asking price of $259,998. Then, as if he was just a burner account that Paul Atreides used to pass the hallucinogenic time while stuck in a spice tent with his mom, “Rob” chimed in with “…it will be worth that in a couple of years…” which, in a world where ZR1s are regularly listed for a quarter of a million bucks and we’re asking if anyone would drop $360,000 on the like-new example linked above, makes him seem borderline prophetic – hence the Dune reference.

With that in mind, the current bid on the fourth ZR1 pieced together in Bowling Green – also the first regular customer unit and the first one with a stick shift(!) – is a mere $107,500, as of writing, with 15 days to go. So, we apologize for spoiling a possible steal of the century for some plucky bargain-hunter out there, but this beauty deserves to be seen, even though it’s been buried on a site that predominantly deals in real estate, agricultural equipment, and antiques! Now, until the hallowed ‘Vette and Muscle car holiday of 4/27, get your bidding fingers ready, Corvette Nation; this one’s about to take off!

  1. Vin #004 is also of note for being first owned by Mike of StreetSpeed717. That “could” sway/deter some from bidding on it, though I doubt most would care either way. He got it through Whitmoyer Chevy. He didn’t keep it very long, mainly since tuning wasn’t available that early on. The ZR1 he’s most known for now was a black auto that he purchased later when tuning was available.
