Mecum Auctions will offer nearly 200 Corvettes for sale this week in Indianapolis at their 25th Annual Spring Classic auction. Corvettes make up almost 10% of the expected 2,000 car docket. The event kicked off yesterday with “Super Tuesday” and concludes on Sunday, May 20th. The team at Velocity will provide 32 hours of live auction TV coverage. Max Angelelli and Ricky Taylor led the Corvette drivers with a victory in their No. 10 SunTrust Racing Corvette Daytona Prototype (DP) in the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series race held at New Jersey Motorsports Park.
We dropped the rumor last week that Guy Fieri is in contention to be the pace car driver at this year’s Indianapolis 500 and today we learned that its official. The celebrity chef and Corvette owner will be driving the 2013 Corvette ZR1 to start the 96th running of the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, May 27th.

The National Insurance Crime Bureau has looked a thefts of Corvettes from 1981-2011 and issued their report to the insurance industry. Over the last 30 years, 90,427 Corvettes were reported stolen in the United States and Puerto Rico with the 1984 model year leading the way with 8,554 thefts.

The California Highway Patrol is asking for help from citizens who may know the identity of a C6 Corvette driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run accident early Sunday.
Authorities say witnesses saw a dark blue 2005 or 2006 Corvette with a removable hardtop strike a male pedestrian on the Highway 101 off-ramp for eastbound Highway 166 between Santa Maria and Nipomo, then speed off at high speed.
To paraphrase country singer George Jones, this is one old Corvette that’s not ready for a rockin’ chair.
John Muller of Arizona always liked the way first generation Corvettes looked, but motoring down the highway in the 1955 he once owned wasn’t the ultimate driving experience.
Then he found a 1954 Corvette on eBay that he called “nearly a basket case.”

As we get closer to the release of the new 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible Collector Edition the anticipation is rising! Kerbeck Corvette already has a couple dozen on order and scheduled to be built between now and the end of June. In fact, some are already built and waiting to ship! All we need now is for GM to announced a release date for the 2013 Corvettes.

MONTEREY, Calif., May 12, 2012 – Corvette Racing broke its victory drought at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in convincing fashion today, sweeping the fiercely competitive GT class with a one-two finish in the six-hour American Le Mans Series Monterey. It was the team’s first victory at the central California circuit since a win in the GT1 class in 2008, and its first one-two finish since moving to the GT class in 2009.
