Nearly eight months since the 2014 Corvette Stingray was unveiled in Detroit, GM has finally got their “Build Your Own” Stingray configurator online. The Configurator allows you to set up the Stingray Coupe or the Stingray Convertible with the options and colors you want and then see the official MSRP for all the options selected.

For just $2,800 more, about three-fourths of the people lucky enough to be buying a 2014 Corvette Stingray are checking the box for the Z51 package.

And while they’re at it, about half of the folks who choose the Z51 are also going for the Magnetic Ride Control suspension, too. The all-new 7-speed manual transmission, which includes specific close-ratio gearing for more aggressive driving, is likewise an early hit.

NHTSA Upgrades Investigation into 2005-2007 Corvette Headlights

And then there was…no light?

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said this week that it is expanding its probe into complaints that low-beam headlights have suddenly quit working on some C6 Corvettes.

The investigation started in May after NHTSA received 30 reports that both low-beam headlights stopped operating at night without warning.

While the Z06 moniker is expected among Vette enthusiasts since that’s what it was called in both C5 and C6 configurations, Car and Driver says historical RPO codes be damned and believe GM will call it the Z07 since this is the seventh generation Corvette.

Compuware Corvettes to test their mettle around Inner Harbor street circuit

DETROIT (Aug. 27, 2013) – Crab cakes, Camden Yards and Charm City’s temporary street circuit await Corvette Racing and its two Compuware Chevrolet Corvette C6.R race cars this weekend with the third running of the Grand Prix of Baltimore. The two-hour race is the seventh round of the American Le Mans Series and the second street race of the season. One of the newest venues on the ALMS calendar has been kind to Corvette Racing with podium finishes in the event’s first two years.

2014 Corvette Stingray Retail Production is Underway

Over the weekend at Corvettes at Carlisle, select GM engineers in attendance gave a series of quickie seminars (5-10 minutes and then Q&A) at the top of each hour. On Saturday morning, Steve Grilli, Bowling Green Assembly’s Quality Manager spoke and confirmed that retail production for the 2014 Corvette Stingray is underway as well as some other interesting tidbits of Stingray news.
