1953 EX-122 Corvette at New York's Motorama Show

It was fifty-seven years ago today that thousands of Americans gathered at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City to catch a glimpse of Chevrolet’s new two-seater sports car. The EX-122 concept was such an instant hit with the public that GM rushed into production the revolutionary fiberglass-bodied car. Six months later, the first Corvette was completed at a makeshift assembly plant in Flint, Michigan. Just 300 Corvettes were produced in 1953 with a sticker price of about $3,500.

A Corvette Friend at Bondurant Needs Your Help

by Keith Cornett on January 16, 2010

The Bondurant School of High Performance Driving has been an advertiser on this blog for well over a year now and I say with conviction that there’s not a better group of people to work with. Bob and his team have made many many contributions to the Corvette community. So when we heard through the grapevine last night that one of their employees was hospitalized on Christmas Eve with severe medical problems, we wanted to spread the word. If you can spare any kind of assistance then read on.

Corvette's Almost 4-Seater 1963 Split Window Coupe

If something doesn’t quite look right with this 1963 Corvette Coupe, you get a gold star! That’s because this was a prototype for a “four place” Corvette. That’s right, a Corvette with back seats! The idea came from Ed Cole who wondered if a four-place Corvette could rival the successful four-seat Thunderbird.

[VIDEO] Corvette Doughnuts With Your Morning Coffee

by Keith Cornett on January 11, 2010

A Corvette ZR1 , ZO6 and Supercharged Indy 500 Pace Car do doughnuts. Goes perfectly with your morning coffee so enjoy!

The “accident” at the end of this video has been up on YouTube for a while but it was just today I learned that the driver had picked up the C5 Corvette Z06 from a dealer and was on a test drive. In this extended version, the Corvette driver is being an absolute ass by tailgating, fishtailing and doing donuts on public roads leading up to the crash.

The announcer says the dealer decided not to press charges which leads me to wonder if they ever saw this tape? Well one thing is for certain. Unlike the guy who fried the clutch in a Z06, our driver here at least knows how to do a burnout!
