For the second year in a row, the French Larbre Competition team has sent a Corvette to the winner’s circle in the GTE-AM division at the 80th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France.
But it wasn’t easy to repeat.
The No. 50 Larbre Corvette C6R had to battle throughout the race with the No. 67 IMSA Matmut Porsche RSR, trailing by about 12 seconds with less than 20 minutes left.
They say that necessity is the mother of invention.
Corvette Central founder and CEO Jerry Kohn would probably agree with that.
Back in the 1970s, Kohn was a tool & die specialist and a Corvette enthusiast from Michigan who was looking for much-needed parts for a 1958 Corvette. It didn’t take long for him to discover that the parts he needed were either not available, poorly made, or overpriced.

Escorted by a convoy of Warrior Watch Riders, Lance Marine L Cpl Joseph Harr came rolling up Sunday afternoon in a 1962 red Corvette, home for a few days from a tour in Afghanistan.
Each year the Eyeson Design car show celebrates the best in automotive design from pre-war cars and motorcycles to modern tuner cars. This year the popular event turned 25 and celebrated its silver anniversary with a special circle of silver Corvettes.

If you’re looking for something to do July 18th – 22nd then consider the NCM’s Performance Tour III. For a generous donation you and 39 other Corvettes can tour the Bowling Green Assembly Plant, NCM, Warren Tech Center, and the Milford Proving Grounds. Think of this as a Corvettes-only version of the Hot Rod Power Tour.

What took a 65-year-old Staunton, Missouri man a lifetime to collect was destroyed overnight Thursday in a fire that gutted his two garages containing three Corvettes and related memorabilia.
“This was my whole life,” an emotional John Hibbeler told stltoday.com reporter Kim Bell. “It took me 45 years to get to this position, and I lost it all in one night.”
He lost it all thanks to a small brush fire that got out of control, fire officials said.
