With rumors and leaks about a new 6.7-liter Corvette engine and the return of the beloved Grand Sport model has enthusiasts really starting to get excited to see what the 2027 model year will bring. One thing we know now is that it’s coming sooner rather than later.

Chevrolet has provided to dealers a list of its models and their corresponding build out dates to end the 2026 model year. According to this internal Chevrolet memo, the 2026 Corvette model year will end on May 29th with the final order cycle (DOSP) starting on March 26th.

As the buildout date of May 29th falls on a Friday, it’s believed that the assembly plant will start production of the 2027 Corvette on Monday, June 1st, if not sooner. No start up dates for the 2027 models were given though.

With that timetable now set, it’s likely there are just a few more opportunities to place an order for a 2026 Corvette. From what we have heard, there could be as many as four order cycle periods left before the final ordering date, but my gut tells me it’s less. This report does seem to indicate two order cycles in March.

The build-out report also did not include any build-out dates for the two exterior colors going away: Riptide Blue and Hysteria Purple. We still don’t know if they will go the distance, or they could actually be already gone. Remember to check the Chevrolet Live Inventory tracker to find any remaining 2025 or 2026s in those colors.

And finally, dealers are also still waiting on the ordering details for the 250 Limited Edition Stars & Steel Corvettes that will help to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the United States. Looks like we’ll see that ordering info come out pretty quickly now.

The Corvette news is coming out now from all angles, so stay up to date with CorvetteBlogger!

  1. Perhaps with all that has ‘leaked’ regarding 6.7 and GS, GM is early terming 2026 model run early so as to not have dealership sitting with alot of 2026 cars when the 6.7 cars and to a much smaller degree GS cars become available.
Corvette is about performance (DUH) so making a significantly more powerful engine (standard?) would leave dealership sitting on the ’26 cars.
Even if ’27 production commences on June 1st (I doubt that) the ’27 cars may not be immediately released to dealerships giving ’em time to move ’26 cars.
