GM Sends First Grand Sport X Allocations to Dealers this Week

The wait for the new 2027 Corvette Grand Sport X appears to be ending as some dealers have reportedly received their first allocations for the new AWD C8 variant this week.

To be honest, the wait for the Grand Sport X felt a lot shorter that anticipated.

The 2027 Corvette Grand Sport X is the new widebody grand tourer of the C8 lineup. It’s naturally aspirated 6.7-liter LS6 V8 generates 535 hp and 520 lb-ft of torque while a front electric motor adds 186 hp for a combined 721 horsepower and confidence-inspiring AWD traction.

Chevrolet first opened up the 2027 Grand Sport for ordering in at the end of April and has just started building them this week. If that same timeframe holds true, we could see the Grand Sport X begin production as early as mid-July though my guess is early August.

Maybe some lucky customer will be able to get theirs built and delivered in time to drive it to Corvettes at Carlisle or the NCM Anniversary show.

Chevrolet appears to be staggering this month’s order cycle as some of our dealers were allocated models and numbers this week while others have stated theirs are coming next week. We did see that ZR1X allocations were on the same report with all the other 2027 Corvette models so it’s good to see the ordering of Chevy’s 1,250-hp hypercar being normalized with the rest of the lineup. No more calls from Detroit to special order it.

As far as this week’s production of the new Grand Sport, it appears the Chevy doesn’t need any kind of ramp up as we have seen in all previous new model rollouts. According to Roger Kiel’s report, 85 Grand Sports were completed through Wednesday. While its extremely early to take this stat too seriously yet, Roger’s daily snapshot shows the Grand Sport is already commanding a 32.5% share of 2027 production.

  1. Can’t you just make plain vanilla Corvettes. Big crazy looking things no one can afford.

  2. There’s a continental sized difference between 2000 order status and 3300 order status, let alone 4000 order status…when there’s an innagural year involved.

If these get built before October and shipped to customers before January, it will be a miracle.
