For one brief shining moment in time, the C8 ZR1 was all the rage. With 1,064 horsepower from a twin-turbo 5.5L V8, it outmuscled just about everything else on the market, regardless of opponent’s price or reliance on hybridization. A ZR1 badge always means being the fastest, most powerful product ever pieced together by General Motors; but the C8 version, upped the ante to an unimaginable level. Its performance was so daunting that other manufacturers wouldn’t even send their cars to face it in comparison tests.
But, like its C7 predecessor, this King of the Hill’s reign wasn’t built to last. Before the ZR1 even got its full day in the sun, GM pulled the silk off an even burlier C8 variant, the ZR1X, that paired the 2025 ZR’s monster LT7 V8 with an optimized version of the E-Ray’s electrified front axle, to solidify the ‘Vette’s foothold in hypercar territory with an outrageous 1,250 total system HP.
As its one year as the unquestioned halo car of Chevy’s family of midengined sports cars, and the only ones with the original C8 interior layout, 2025 ZR1s were always going to hold a special place in Corvette history, but a multitude of internal, scheduling and supplier issues made them absolute unicorns by limiting production to just 180 units for the entire model year.
Even as unicorns go, VIN 00091 is incredibly unique. It was just posted on Autotrader’s Private Seller Exchange, seemingly after successfully completing the one-year no-sell clause, during which it accrued about 9,000 miles. Other than a patient owner who wasn’t afraid to actually enjoy his American dream machine, what makes #91 special is its combination of options, with a special emphasis on its color combination. Starting with the unique Hysteria purple exterior, this example is already one of only 11 coupes (along with 5 ‘verts) built for the inaugural year of ZR1 production. What comes next necessitated the $695 Color Combination Over Ride option as an unrecommended blend of paint and fabric, as the buyer opted for https://www.corvetteblogger.com/2025/11/08/video-the-c8-corvette-zr1-enters-the-u-drags-chat-but-no-other-manufacturer-wants-to-race-it/Competition Sport Seats (1 of 49 coupes) trimmed in the new RPO “HUW” Habanero orange leather, making it one of only 7 ZR1 coupes (12 total) with the high-impact interior, and very likely the only one in that minute cohort that was also painted purple.
In total, some $32,000 worth of options boxes were checked on this distinctive specimen. Chief among these is the ZTK track package that was limited to 55 coupes and 83 total orders – a group that isn’t just the most capable of all 2025 ‘Vettes (or, really, American cars, period), but also the ones that are expected to be the most valuable in the long run, like a group of modern day “Tankers.” Pulling together the wild offset between interior and exterior are a set of Orange Brake Calipers that put it in a club of 12 coupes (22 total).
Other highlights of this all-bases-covered build include the Level 2 Carbon Interior package, Stealth Interior Package, Front End Lift, and Carbon Flash 20-spoke wheels. Even with the mileage, this list of highly desirable options on a one-year outlier ZR1 in a one-of-one colorway fit for a Clemson Tigers fan probably warrants the seller’s $265,000 asking price. After all, nobody says he has to sell, and he’s likely just testing the market with a number that would make him consider moving on. In his shoes, we aren’t sure $265k would be able to pry it from our grasp; what it would take for you to sell if you had a 2025 ZR1 in your garage?
