It’s still hard to get used to living in a world where a factory-fresh Chevrolet can make the top-ot-the-line V12 Lamborghini from the lineage of Miura, Countach, and Diablo look Diab-slow (haven’t we used that joke before?).
The current keeper of head of the Sant’Agata speed family is called the Revuelto, it picked up where the Aventador Ultimae left off except now its 6.5L (396 ci) V12 makes 814 horsepower. While we still think it’d be more exciting in ZR1 form (lightweight RWD ICE-only), it’s currently available as an “X,” with hybrid tech that brings total system output to a Bugatti Veyron-equaling 1,001 HP.
As we saw in May, the stock Lambo struggles to hang with the regular 1,064-horse ZR1, so the most recent Drag Times video that pits the $608,000 (with a current lease deal of $7,299 per month for 36 months with $60k down!) Italian against the ‘Vette’s take on the performance hybrid formula doesn’t even seem worth doing, until a plot twist is revealed. The Arancio Argos (orange) ZR1X competitor is claiming a 100 HP gain from upgrades including a full exhaust. Now that the 3x more expensive Euro has undergone some costly enhancements, it’s only 150 ponies shy of the X’s output!
We don’t like to spoil results on these things, but we couldn’t help but include the title above after watching the X so easily dispatch such high-end metal in consecutive runs. Put on your Apollo Creed trunks and Uncle Sam top hat and be sure to include this absolute beatdown as a part of your pre-America 250 celebrations!
