Eyes on Design Symposiums to Feature Corvette Design Legends

Each year the Eyeson Design car show celebrates the best in automotive design from pre-war cars and motorcycles to modern tuner cars. The show takes place annually on Father’s Day at the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House in Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan. The show supports the Detroit School of Ophthalmology which helps develop technology to restore sight for the visually impaired. Judges evaluate the invitation-only vehicles based on design rather than rarity, condition, and cleanliness like most car shows do.

In addition to the main event Sunday car show, several satellite events take place prior to the show as well. This year’s event will feature two unique design symposiums, both of which will include Corvette Hall of Famer, Peter Brock. In the Corvette world, Brock is best known for his work on the Stingray Racer and the timeless C2 Corvettes.

All symposium events will take place on Saturday, June 18th at two of GM’s most revered properties – the iconic Design Dome and their must-see Heritage Center. The 2022 Eyeson Design car show will follow on Sunday, June 19th.

The symposium day will get underway at 9am in the GM Design Dome with a talk surrounding Strother MacMinn and the Lemans Coupe. Brock will be one of the featured panelists.

Then, from 1-4pm inside the Design Dome, Corvette will take the floor with a symposium entitled “Stingray Racer to C8, From a Design Perspective”. The 3-hour program will feature comments from a Mount Rushmore of Corvette design. Expected panelists include Peter Brock (again), Tom Peters, Kirk Bennion, John Cafaro, and Randy Wittine. That’s four Corvette Hall of Famers if you’re keeping score at home. The Eyes on Design website calls this discussion “A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn about the behind-the-scenes challenges faced by the design community when bringing new Corvette ideas to reality.” We humbly agree.

After the Corvette portion of the program is complete, there will be a Meet and Greet with the panelists over at the GM Heritage Center from 6:30-8pm. Attendees will get to mingle with Corvette and automotive greats while perusing the best of the best vehicles in GM Heritage Collection.

Cost for the morning Strother MacMinn talk is $50 per person while the afternoon Corvette session is $100 per person. Admission to the Heritage Center Meet and Greet is $40. 100% of the proceeds from all 3 events will go directly to the Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology.
