Corvettes for Sale: 350-Powered 1966 Corvette Sting Ray with Rare Interior Options

This 1966 Corvette convertible may not be a numbers matching survivor — but it’s still a sharply preserved, well optioned, and unusually rare slice of mid year Corvette history. And at $54,500, the seller in West Babylon, New York is offering a C2 that combines originality, desirable factory equipment, and a fresh powerplant that mimics the car’s original 350 horse engine.

The car now runs a newer 350 V8, built to replicate the feel and rumble of the factory 327/350 hp small block it originally carried. The seller says the cam profile is similar to the original high horsepower setup, giving the car the same crisp, throaty character that made the 350 hp L79 one of the most beloved engines of the era.

Everything on the car reportedly works — headlights, signals, gauges, even the clock — and the seller includes restoration receipts and an NCRS letter documenting the car’s background.

Where this Corvette really stands out is in its interior equipment:

  • Factory headrest seats — installed on just 1,033 cars out of nearly 28,000 built.
  • Shoulder harness seat belts — listed as ultra rare, with only 37 units produced.

The seller notes he can’t confirm with 100% certainty that the shoulder harnesses are factory installed, but the setup appears correct and aligns with his research showing the option was available on convertibles.

Other equipment includes:

  • AM/FM radio
  • Power antenna (that works)
  • Reproduction knock off wheels
  • Factory side pipes

The Corvette still wears its factory correct color combination:

  • Laguna Blue (code 978) — repainted about 10 years ago
  • Dark Blue interior (code 418) — completely original and in impressive condition

The seller mentions a small seam tear on the driver’s seat but otherwise describes the cabin as “very, very nice.”

The frame is original, clean, and rust free, and the car shows 90,000 original miles.

The paint is described as driver quality, glossy and straight, with the typical small stress cracks near the headlights — a common C2 trait. The convertible top is also driver quality, replaced about a decade ago.

The car appears darker in shade than in direct sunlight, consistent with Laguna Blue’s chameleon like character.

At $54,500, the seller says the price is firm but is open to trades, asking interested buyers to send photos and terms.

This ’66 Corvette convertible remains a standout example of a C2 — even without its original engine.

  1. This is a very nice car that if I didn’t already own my “forever” Corvette, I would be more than interested in. Great find!
