Our DVR’s will be working overtime this weekend as we’ve got a 2nd big auction taking place. While Barrett-Jackson is in Palm Beach, Mecum Auctions will be in Houston, Texas this weekend for their second event there. The expanded event takes place Thursday, April 4th through Saturday the 6th at the Reliant Center. Velocity will have 6 hours of live coverage each of the 3 auction days.

It’s spent the last 42 years with the same southern California owner and has logged a total of 522,000 miles since it was born. That’s basically the equivalent of a roundtrip visit to the moon.

The 2013 rendition of the Bloomington Gold Corvette show is just about 4 months away and now’s the time to sign up if you’re planning on attending or showing a car. Registration for this year’s show opens up on Friday, February 15th. The June 28-30th festival of Corvettes will be held for the first time this year on the University of Illinois campus in Champaign.

One of the most iconic Corvette designs of all time is the 1963 Split Window Corvette Coupe. 1963 was the first year for a fixed roof coupe for Corvette and it was also the only year that the rear window was separated into two. The Top 11 Corvette Sales of Mecum Kissimmee 2013

Mecum Auctions’ occupation of central Florida wrapped up last weekend after a 10-day bender of sunshine and vehicle sales. Their first event of 2013 tallied 2,610 cars traversing the red carpeted auction block with roughly 70% of those going to new homes. A total of 402 Corvettes (15% of the total docket) were available and 62 of them drew bids of $100,000 or more.
