We know 1963 Corvette split window coupes are rare, with only 10,594 assembled by the crews at the St. Louis factory.
But we just ran across this “rolling project car with no motor or transmission” on an eBay auction, where the sellers are asking for a whopping $95,000 for their barn find and nearly dropped our Chick-fil-A biscuit in our lap and got choked on our orange juice!
The previous owner bought the car in 1974 and it reportedly has sat in a barn for more than 40 years.
Said to be an early production model with the deep floor pans, the car originally had Riverside Red paint with a red interior and came outfitted with power windows and power steering.
Now, though, much of that red over red is missing, along with the power equipment, apparently ravaged by time, and it now “comes with what you see,” which is not much, other than a rust-free frame, a dent in the front cross member, and “a little rust” in the door gutters. The seats aren’t shown but are said to be from a 1965. A date-coded engine and transmission are also available.
The sellers, a place called Factory Hot Rods out of West Chester, Ohio, say they can restore the car for the new owner. Based on the company’s website, where previous work is exhibited, it appears this car has the potential to be a real showstopper.
But sinking $95,000 just to get started, doesn’t sound like the best way to do that, especially when you’re eating a chicken biscuit and drinking orange juice at the same time. What do you think?

It has potential… but $95k? No way. They need to put down the crack pipe before someone gets hurt.
Really.
Add another ~$500K (drivetrain, parts, paint, more parts, labor, psychiatrist, meds, divorce lawyer) and you’ll really have something…or you could buy a very nice driver for ~$150K.
