Corvettes for Sale: 1969 Corvette with 427/390 V8 Offered on eBay

Say the words “427” and “4-speed manual” around most enthusiasts, and their eyes are likely to open wide.

This 1969 big-block Corvette Stingray sure has attracted lots of attention on eBay, where it’s already soared past the reserve to $38,100 – with six days left in the auction!

Chevy offered a wide choice of engines during the ’69 model year, and this one is blessed to have its numbers-matching 427/390 horsepower V8 still under the hood. Furthermore, it’s connected to a four-speed manual transmission to provide plenty of fun on the road.

The previous owner had owned the car since 1976 but had put it in storage for more than 20 years in Southern California.

The current owner, based out of Peyton, Colorado, has been busy making repairs to the car over the past year, completely rebuilding the rear end with new Kevlar clutches, bearings, and seals, along with a complete bushing kit and new u-joints on the axle shafts and drive shaft. He also installed a new stainless steel two-inch exhaust with Magnaflow mufflers, not to mention a new clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, and thrust bushing.

He didn’t stop there, literally, as the car also features new brake pads, calipers, and rotors on all four corners – along with four new shocks, new tires, and a new starter.

With all that mechanical work, the seller says his Corvette now “runs excellent” and is “very tight.”

That’s not to say the car is perfect by any means. Its Riverside Gold paint is acceptable for a driver, with a good shine but a few imperfections that include a large paint chip on the nose next to the passenger headlamp and a few scattered minor chips. Likewise, the black vinyl interior is OK for a driver, but perfectionists out there would find fault with the minor seam separations on the seats and a few small scratches on the console from wear and tear over the past 54 years.

All in all, though, this Corvette looks like it would provide lots of fun for a new owner with its big-block engine and manual transmission.
