One of them is now up for sale on eBay in Harpursville, New York, where 33 bids have climbed to $33,600 – still shy of the reserve with the auction slated to end Wednesday morning.
One good thing about this particular example that it runs and drives, so you could enjoy it while you’re restoring it.
Right now, it’s running with a carburetor, but the seller is including a fuel unit and distributor and claims that his car has the identifying fuelie-only marks like a hole in the firewall and high horsepower 6500 RPM tachometer. “The Distributor for fuel injection is as follows Delco Remy Model #111915 Serial #7-K-4 Made in The USA Fuel Unit Serial #1698 Patten #7014320 Rodchester products Rochester NY Made In The USA,” he adds in the listing.
Body-wise, this car is said to have a pinched nose (which means removal of front bumpers and raising of the front valance, according to a commentator) and “slightly modified” hood. The trunk spears and grille teeth are missing, and the seller says the hardtop needs to be restored or at least have a new rear window installed. The Al Knoch white soft top, meanwhile, is said to be in “great shape.”
Interior-wise, the car will at least need new seat covers and carpet.
Another commentator noted some other problems, at least in his opinion, including missing spare cover and jacking tools, ’59-’60 hardtop, replacement engine block, ’59 tach, later reverse lock-out shifter, beat-up side trim, and FI distributor for automatic transmission, among others.
