The editors at Car and Driver magazine know that purchasing a new vehicle is a major event for everyone, and that’s one of the reasons why they spend countless hours testing every car, truck, SUV, and minivan in the market. Car and Driver performs instrumented tests on hundreds of cars each year while also experiencing them in real-world driving situations. Each of these vehicles tested are rated on a 1-10 scale and ranked within their segments. Those that rank the best are chosen for the coveted 10Best list, but their annual Editor’s Choice List offers a wider selection and features even more vehicles worthy of your affection.
We especially like how Car and Driver closed their article with this:
At Car and Driver, we believe cars are more than just simple transportation. You should love the car you buy and buy the car you love. The Editors’ Choice list is a great place to start your search for that special ride; we think these vehicles will make you smile for many miles and many years to come. Happy shopping!
All three current 2025 Corvette models (sorry, no ZR1 yet) were chosen for the 2025 Editor’s Choice List with each of the cars rising to be among the top ranked vehicles in their segments. Each of the vehicles in the guide are given their Highs & Lows, as well as the overall Verdict for the car. Here are the three Corvettes and what the editors said about each:
SPORTS CAR: 2025 Corvette Stingray
- HIGHS: Quite possibly the best performance-car value ever, comfortable enough to drive daily and year-round, 3LZ trim is certifiably luxe.
- LOWS: Can’t get a stick, some interior design quirks are ergonomic bugaboos, E-Ray and Z06 models are more of a financial flex.
- VERDICT: The entry-level Corvette Stingray is an impressive machine with supercar-killing performance, exotic styling, and pricing that humiliates Ferraris, Lamborghinis and McLarens.
Other vehicles in the Sports Car segment include the Porsche 718 Boxster, the Porsche 718 Cayman, and the Toyota GR Supra.
HYBRID LUXURY SPORTS CAR: 2025 Corvette E-Ray
- HIGHS: Supercar performance, all-wheel-drive traction, supple ride with track-capable handling.
- LOWS: Just don’t ask it to save you fuel; it’s not that kind of hybrid.
- VERDICT: The Corvette E-Ray attempts to do it all and largely succeeds, with the amazing acceleration you expect combined with surprising practicality, everyday livability and a cool electric-only Stealth mode.
The only other vehicle listed in the Hybrid Luxury Sports Car segment was the McLaren Artura.
LUXURY SPORTS CAR: 2025 Corvette Z06
- HIGHS: Gut-compressing acceleration, versatile enough to drive daily, pricing that should scare Ferrari and Lamborghini.
- LOWS: No manual transmission availability, outward visibility can be strained, not much else.
- VERDICT: With its extraordinary mid-engine performance, exotic-car looks and personality, and hard-to-believe value, the Corvette Z06 is a sterling example of what GM can do when the engineers are given a long leash.
Other vehicles in the Luxury Sports Car segment include the Maserati GranTurismo, the Porsche 911, Porsche 911 GT3, and the Porsche 911 Turbo.
So there you have it! Car and Driver did a great job in curating their Editor’s List. As they mentioned in the article, hopefully you are buying a new Corvette because it’s the car you love, and we are pretty sure you will end up loving the car you bought.

I just bought a new 2025 Corvette convertible iPhone six Corvettes in my lifetime by far. This is the most luxurious best writing best performance best looking car I have ever owned. I put 80,000 miles on my last C7 Corvette and loved every minute of it for 10 years, but this one is even better. I just don’t know how Chevrolet managed to build a high performance car for under $100,000. My Ferrari friends are very envious I can out perform their car for 1/3 the money but who cares about the money? The looks are incredible. I’m an artist and a sculpture. I couldn’t make a better automobile. If I tried my hats off to General Motors the only complaint I have is they don’t make crumb wheels I had to go to Wilcraft to get that
About the above comment WTF?
Funny they bring up the manual transmission on all three. It was 25% of C7 sales. Guess this generation doesn’t know how to drive a M7. Great theft deterrent. I passed on the 2020C8 and got a new Grand Sport M7 at a considerable discount. It’s value is close to what I paid for it 5 years ago.
@Robert WTF is he saying?
