The owner of this 1968 Corvette convertible has a collection of 75 cars and says he just doesn’t have enough time in the day to drive all of them.
In fact, after driving this Stingray just 40 miles after buying it in 2023, he’s decided to part with his first-year C3 on Bring a Trailer, where the current bid has climbed to $15,500 with three days to go in the auction.
Despite his decision to sell, the owner fondly calls this Silverstone Silver over Dark Blue vinyl interior beauty “one of the best looking C3s I have ever owned.”
We wouldn’t argue with him on that point as the color combo is simply stunning, though the car admittedly isn’t perfect as far as the paint goes, with a few scattered chips, checking, and cracking visible in the photos. Some might also not be cool with the black stinger stripe on the hood, but we think it adds a nice accent to the overall look.
Meanwhile, the original black convertible top remains in place and while it shows some signs of aging, it remains overall “in really good shape,” the seller says, noting that in his case, “I never took it outside if there was even a cloud in the sky so I didn’t worry about rain.”
We have a feeling a lot of potential owners would adhere to his policy of dry-weather usage, too.
Based on videos showing a cold start and a trip down the road, the 327/300 horsepower V8 engine that’s hooked to a four-speed manual transmission seems to be in good working order.
The Dark Blue interior, likewise, is in nice condition, including an aftermarket wood steering wheel that’s accompanied by the original one if that’s important to you.
Other features include 15″ Rally wheels, power disc brakes, power steering, telescoping steering column, heater, and Delco AM/FM radio.
The new owner would be wise to replace the tires, which show a date code of 2010, despite having good tread on them.
The odometer reads 44,000 miles, and the seller says he didn’t question that number when he bought the car but admits he can’t authenticate it.
All in all, this looks like a nice driver that could be upgraded even further with a new paint job, though it certainly doesn’t need one to be enjoyed out on the road.
