[VIDEO] 2019 Corvette ZR1 Outruns a Caddy CT5-V and a McLaren 720S at the Drag Strip

With the unveiling of the awe-inspiring 2025 Corvette ZR1 last month, Chevy’s most powerful sports car ever has dominated the news from the automotive world with its whopping 1,064 horsepower and 215-plus mph top speed.

But the previous version of the ZR1, the one-year-only 755 horsepower front-engine C7 behemoth available only in 2019, is still nothing to yawn about.

Witness this Ceramic Matrix Gray Metallic example that recently took on a couple of impressive foes at the Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park in Brownsburg, Indiana, as captured for posterity by the videographer with the Drag Racing and Car Stuff channel on YouTube.

First, the Corvette takes on its cousin, a black Cadillac CTS-V that quickly proves it’s no wimp when it comes to performance and more than capable to take on its “King of the Hill” relative.

In fact, the Caddy appears to have actually taken a narrow win according to the results posted on the screen (9.997 to 10.07), but the track’s electronic lights ultimately gave the nod to the ZR1 instead.

Next up was an even more formidable foe, a McLaren 720S supercar. The ZR1 jumps out to a fabulous start and then holds off a charge by the 720S to take a big win, 9.70 seconds at 139.47 mph to 9.88 at 145.23.
