Corvettes for Sale: Manual 2001 Corvette Z06 with 78K Miles for $21,500

The owner of this Millennium Yellow 2001 Corvette Z06 says he doesn’t really want to part with his car, but “some things came up.”

Now, he has this first-year C5 Z06 up for sale on Craigslist out of the Colorado Springs, Colorado area, and the asking price of $21,500 shows just how much bang for the buck there is out there in “Corvetteland” right now. Back in the day, the base MSRP of $47,500 was only $500 more than a base Corvette convertible, interestingly enough.

This car – one of only 5,773 Z06s built in 2001 – has been driven 78,000 miles over the past 23 years and still appears to be in great cosmetic condition inside and out, described in the listing as “definitely a(n) eye stopper” and a “very beautiful” Corvette.

More importantly, the LS6 385-horsepower engine is said to run and drive “like new,” according to the seller, who’s also throwing in a set of spare black wheels and tires to sweeten the deal. By the way, the Z06 accelerates from 0 to 60 in only 4 seconds with a top speed of 171 mph and covers the quarter-mile in 12.6 seconds @ 114 mph. Not bad for a car pushing a quarter-of-a-century old.

The Z06 engine, which had to be mated to a six-speed manual transmission, included a new block casting, modified air cleaner, new intake and exhaust manifolds, unique camshaft profile, higher-rate valve springs, new cylinder heads, higher capacity fuel injectors, and new PCV system to reduce crankshaft pressure.

These cars, in this writer’s opinion, remain some of the most beautiful C5s ever made and are instantly recognizable with their fixed-roof hardtop, stainless steel mesh front fascia grilles, and functional brake cooling ducts on the lower rear fenders, along with red brake calipers (though this car doesn’t have those now).

Z06s also came with electronic dual-zone air conditioning and FE4 suspension.
