Here’s something we didn’t expect to learn today: Mercedes-Benz of Downtown Calgary has a seemingly well-funded and decently produced YouTube channel, apparently to help market its high-end listings. The premise of the Canadian dealership’s latest video, posted September 20th, was simple: Which RWD Nürburgring slayer can also claim straight-line bragging rights?

The selected contenders were the 2026 Ford Mustang GTD that stopped the clock at the Green Hell in 6:52 with its 815-horsepower supercharged 5.2L “Predator” V8 and F1-grade suspension tech, the 991.2-gen Porsche 911 GT2 RS that debuted in 2018 as the most powerful 911 ever made with a 700-horsepower 3.8L flat-six that propelled it to a 6:47.3 lap at Germany’s most infamous track, and the dealership’s dog in the fight, the 2021 720 HP Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series that ran a blazing 6:43.6 at the ‘Ring.

Just when a pretty interesting matchup was brewing, a couple of inside jokes (that we aren’t privy to at this point) called “The Chinooks” showed up to make things much more compelling with more than 2,000 HP between them. One of these maple syrup Stigs brought along another sub-7 ‘Ring master in the monstrous 2025+ C8 Corvette ZR1. Its twin-turbo LT7 V8 is good for an underrated 1,064 ponies and, along with a sophisticated suspension, brake, and aero arrangement, helped it score a 6:50.7 at the ‘Ring without the help of the kind of pro driver Ford, Porsche, and AMG commissioned for their runs.

The other knockoff “tame racing driver” went away from the Nürburgring theme but still managed to keep things star-spangled and possibly Canadian with a Dodge Challenger Hellcat that’s certainly more in its element on a runway than anywhere the road decides to twist a bit. This particular Hellcat is a non-widebody Jailbreak model that’s had some work done to the tune of a claimed 1,050 horsepower.

Which factory hot rod will prevail? Hit play to find out, but before you do, remember to cut the hosts a break. They’re salesmen by trade, so don’t expect the presenting chops of Chris Harris, the easy-listening voice of John Davis, or even the ability to pronounce “ZR1,” but they’re still out there making worthwhile car videos while a lot of the bigger operations in the press have stalled out in their efforts. For that, and the not-at-all-easy feat of getting all these cars on a strip at the same time, we commend them!
