Here are the Top Color Choices for the 2024 Stingray

We are still rolling out some of the info we learned at this year’s Michelin NCM Bash. While the focus is usually on “What’s New” for the upcoming model year, we also got an update of the top trims, body styles, colors, and options for the current 2024 model year. And now that we know some colors are going away for 2025, let’s see how that may impact the Corvette’s color palate.

When the Corvette Team gathered up this info, there was a total of 30,196 Corvettes either produced or on the order books and scheduled for production as of April 1st, 2024. The Corvette Team shows that 2024 Corvette production is currently 76% Stingray (22,948), 22% Z06 (6,644) and 2% E-Rays (604). While they only show percentages on these breakouts, we’ll compute the approximate quantities which can be a little off in case of rounding. As I started putting this info together, I thought it would have more impact by going deeper, so I am going to put the spotlight on the Stingray for this post, and then we’ll offer the same treatment to the Z06 and E-Ray over the next few days.

2024 Corvette Stingray

With the 2024 model year officially being the 5th year of Stingray production, the quantities and take rates have really evened out. As you will see with the Z06 and the E-Ray, first adopters like to have loaded cars, while the Stingray model is now seeing some equalizing among its body styles and trims.

The Coupe model is the most popular Stingray with 13,310 produced versus 9,638 Convertibles. The top selling Stingray overall is now the 2LT Coupe with 5,550 produced. In fact, the 2LT trim package is the sweet spot among Corvette buyers. When the body styles are combined, the 2LT accounted for 9,735 units, followed by 6,903 3LT and 6,311 1LT.

2024 Stingray Coupe – 58% (13,310)
1LT – 38% (5,058)
2LT – 42% (5,590)
3LT – 20% (2,662)

2024 Stingray Convertible – 42% (9,638)
1LT – 13% (1,253)
2LT – 43% (4,144)
3LT – 44% (4,241)

When it comes the Stingray’s exterior colors, the traditional White, Red, and Black lead the way in that order with Red Mist coming in 4th. We marked the retiring colors with an ‘*’ and we wonder if the Corvette Team has any second thoughts on Hypersonic Gray with its top 5 finish on both the Stingray and the Z06. The other six expiring colors are the bottom dwellers, and yet collectively as a group they offered the ability for Corvette owners to expand their choices across a number of colors.

2024 Exterior Colors
Arctic White – 15%
Torch Red – 14%
Black – 11%
Red Mist – 11%
Hypersonic Gray * – 8%
Sea Wolf Gray – 7%
Riptide Blue – 6%
Rapid Blue – 5%
Carbon Flash * – 5%
Amplify Orange * – 4%
Ceramic Matrix * – 4%
Cacti Green * – 3%
Silver Flare * – 3%
Accelerate Yellow * – 3%

Some of the other options worth mentioning include Front Lift and the Magnetic Ride Control. The E60 Front Lift is now at 45% which for the Stingray is pretty low, but with its $2,595 cost we can see why some are going without it. The top chassis is the base FE1 (non-Z51) at 37%, followed by FE3 (Z51) and FE4 (Z51+MRC) which are both at 27%. Nine percent of Stingray buyers also opt for Magnetic Ride Control on the base FE2 (non-Z51) chassis.

Let’s take a look to see which wheels are selling on the 2024 Corvette Stingrays. Nearly 50% of all cars have a variation of the base wheel in Silver or Carbon Flash. And despite it being on the constraint list for much of this year, the 20-spoke Gloss Black Q9I wheels are third with 21% (11,160). After that, it really falls off with the next two 20-spoke wheels at 11% and 13%.

2024 Wheel Designs
Silver Q8P – 25%
Carbon Flash Q8Q – 24%
20-Spoke Bright Q99 – 11%
20-Spoke Gloss Black Q9I – 21%
20-Spoke Red Stripe Q9A – 13%
Split-Spoke Bright Q9Y – 2%
Split-Spoke Graphite Q90 – 4%

And finally, here’s the slide from the NCM Bash which has a bunch of other Corvette Stingray options and their current take rate.

2024 Stingray Options

Judging from the last news about when the 2025s could be starting, we could be looking at another 3 months or so of 2024 production at a minimum. For once, there is both time and allocations available so if you’re a 2024 Corvette Stingray buyer, you still should have some time to get that order placed with your chosen specs.

  1. I bought a 2023 Anniversary edition C8 used with 11 miles on the car it is the best car that I have ever owned in my 75 years of life. There are no words to describe the car you need to drive one and then you truly will understand what Chevrolet has created. My biggest regret is my age and the time that I will have to enjoy such a great car is limited, hats off to G.M. I want the next owner of this car to know that the car was cared for and maintained well and never abused, good luck.

  2. VIN production does not support 600 E-Rays being produced in 2024. I don’t even think there will be 600 total produced by the end of 2024 production run.

I don’t have faith with GM, and they have announced nothing for 2025 that changes that. Even simple, unobjectionable things like expanding the pieces in the Stealth Trim option–haven’t been announced.

  3. I took museum delivery of my 2024 Accelerate Yellow Metallic convertible Stingray – the only car in yellow. About a dozen other corvettes including a pair of E-Rays and several Z06 cars were also there. But museum spectators ignored them to ask about my car. It clearly stood out from the more subdued black, white, gray, dark red cars – in a good way. The color popularity disconnect is that dealers overwhelmingly order more cars than individuals – and they play it “safe” ordering B-W-G-R so as not to get stuck. Anyway, I’m ok with being at the bottom of this list and somewhat glad that they are discontinuing Accel Yellow so my car will be and stay different than the rest.
