Are you a half-full or half-empty kind of guy?

Depending on your attitude, as you take a visual walk through this old chicken house, you might see lots of opportunity when you see the long-abandoned vehicles being stored there.

YouTuber “DontbeWily” was visiting the owner of the chicken house to see a Mack truck he spotted on Facebook and asked if he could take a tour of the dilapidated structure and check out all the stuff being stored inside. He shares what he spotted on this hour-long video, and naturally the first thing that caught our eye was a 1959 Corvette.

Based on the last tag on the rear of the car, this car last saw a public road 40 years ago – all the way back in 1984!

And it shows. This Corvette is covered with decades of dirt and grime, and the soft top has disintegrated so badly that the front bumper is poking out of a hole in the roof!

The body actually doesn’t look too bad, other than the dirt and some missing emblems as well as a headlight hanging limply, and it’s obvious years ago that someone tried to put their imprint on the car with the fender flares and aftermarket hood scoop. An engine with Corvette valve covers is still under the hood, by the way, but we don’t know if it’s the original 283 that would have left from the St. Louis factory back in the day. The interior could use some TLC, with new carpet, seat covers, and door panels definitely required, but all the gauges are still intact. Out back, the video host raises the trunk lid to find assorted parts being stored there, things like headers and headlight surrounds for starters.

The chicken house and the surrounding fields hold other interesting items to a transportation scavenger, including a couple of ’57 Chevys, an ’80s-era Camaro, and miscellaneous other vehicles from the ’70s and ’80s, including some old tractors.

While it seems likely these vehicles will never reach their former glory, they might offer some missing parts to bring other cars back to life.

Some of the vehicles are said to be for sale, and you can contact the owner, Mickey Marvel, by email at [email protected] to find out which ones.

  1. Owner may even throw in a couple of rattlers that don’t want to move anyway to sweeten the deal.
