The Michelin NCM Bash is officially behind us, and it didn’t disappoint! We’ve got new and returning(!) colors, the Z06 has new shoes that might look really good in a finish that goes with the car, and even the Stingray is getting some love for its sixth birthday in the form of notable updated equipment.
That last bit of news is sure to be a point of interest that future Red Formans can amuse the neighbor kids with. The Z51 track package that found its way onto 57.5% of Stingrays in 2023 is getting a fresh, more aggressive spoiler! The new Z51 wing – and it can be called a wing, now – strikes a nice middle ground between the original spoiler and the optional and often on-constraint “high-wing” unit.

We liked commentor IPD’s suggestion that we call this new piece the “mid-wing” until we considered that “mid” is Gen-Z slang for “not so good,” “low quality,” etc., so we’re going to keep fishing for a nickname. Anyway, like the OG high wing, this medium wing features a narrow, full-width aerodynamic foil mounted on four struts. The actual wings look remarkably similar, and without a side-by-side comparison, the only obvious difference is the height of the struts, which are naturally shorter on the newer intermediate wing.
Our last poll concerning what Corvette fans would buy after the brand moves on from V8s was bad news for the long-term success of America’s Sports car and General Motors… in general. A decisive 77% of voters said that they’d rather stick with used Corvettes when the new ones lose their signature bent-eight burble. Opinions on the other three options were surprisingly even (aka unhelpful for GM moving forward), with the Dodge Charger model of an EV sold alongside a turbo-six receiving the exact same negligible 8% of the vote as a pure EV post-V8 option, with a boosted four-pot paired with a battery, AMG “63” style coming in just two votes behind the second-place tie. In an effort to inspire a wider range of responses, we’re putting the new Z51 spoiler on a sliding scale with a simple “What do you think about the new look?” leading question:

No question that fit my category. I have an Accelerate Yellow Z51 that came from the factory with the “Intermediate Wing” and the dealer installed the “High Wing” before delivery which I like better.
Love my 2023 Z51 wing,added touch over no wing and not trying to look like a “Racer”.
Not a fan of any sort of wing. I can only raise my golf bag so high, ya know. It’s tough getting old!
I love it, i plan on ordering a 2026 in a year and a half and want the Z-51 package, but was wanting a little higher spoiler, this fits exactly what I want, even though the poll they have here, need s a question, asking just if you love it instead of”I, love it and will trade in my dated Z-51″, it doesn’t give you a choice if you don’t have a C8.
How about calling it the “Z-wing”
Don’t care for wings. Race cars need them but I prefer the sleek unspoiled look on the tail end.
I like the wing especially the way follows the contour of trunk! I agree that the poll should’ve just asked if you like it without anything else in the question?
always hated the Z51 spoiler
This high wing, with its goofy 4 pillar design, makes this car look like a Hot Wheels toy from the rear. Does not look ‘natural’, the way the original Z51 compound spoiler/wing or the Z06’s wing does. Enough with the aftermarket-looking gimmicks. Just my $0.02.
I fully agree with your $0.02 Boba Fett. Other than radiator screens and 4 Lloyd mats,my 70th Z51 will stay as it is….. stock.
I hate the 4 post option for the wing. It would be nice as a 2 post like the Z. Come on GM. People like Sagala are making the aftermarket a more viable source for aero, just wished that GM had better factory options. Just like their garbage wheels options. $3k+ for gold wheels that say forged on them and weight a metric ton!! Insert rolling eyes emoji here.
