[STOLEN] Rapid Blue C8 Corvette One of 35 Luxury Cars Recovered in Backyard Raid

A Rapid Blue C8 Corvette convertible was among the 35 luxury vehicles recovered in a backyard raid conducted by California police last week.

The mid-engine Corvette appears to be nicely optioned, with the optional black roof and nacelles, black wheels, and black high wing spoiler, and doesn’t seem to have been damaged.

The California Highway Patrol Southern Division Special Services Vehicle Theft Unit (how’s that for a name?) recovered the vehicles after a two-month-long vehicle theft investigation that involved several luxury vehicles fraudulently purchased from unsuspecting local dealerships, police said in a Facebook post.

The unit in the San Fernando Valley served a search warrant and found approximately 35 stolen luxury vehicles, with the makes reading like a Who’s Who of Fancy Cars, including the Corvette, Aston Martin, Bentley, BMW, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, and Porsche. The total value is estimated at $2.3 million.

Police arrested one suspect and seized a firearm and also discovered an indoor marijuana grow operation of more than 400 plants. That came as no surprise to the Vehicle Theft Unit. While its primary mission is “to investigate, arrest, and prosecute criminals responsible for motor vehicle theft,” suspects are “frequently involved in other criminal behavior, including weapons possession, narcotics trafficking, and other violent crimes that impact the community,” CHP said in its Facebook post, adding that they are “committed to aggressively investigating all offenses associated with motor vehicle theft.”

Since the investigation is still ongoing, CHP urges anyone with information or if you think your vehicle might be among the ones stolen, to call the CHP Southern Division Vehicle Theft Unit at 323-644-9550.

Hopefully this Corvette will be reunited soon with its rightful owner, who probably had to wait several months to climb behind the wheel. We’re not sure how that works if the insurance has already paid off, but since the real owner would likely have to get back on another waiting list for another C8, he might prefer to have his original car back if possible.

  1. Would you really want your C8 back? Lord knows the abuse it may have experienced, e.g., parked outside overnight and/or not washed in weeks!!! No Thanks! 🤣

  2. Agree. That is what I would do. If I had my C7 stolen, and got it back, I would clean it up, have it checked out, and sell it.
