For the front splitter, ACS Composite improved upon the design by manufacturing their 5VM front splitter out of their proprietary PC Composite material which is stronger and more durable than the carbon fiber OEM parts. Typically, these molded parts offer extreme resistance to heat and scraping resistance. PC Composite also has a black substrate so that no visible chipping or scrapes will show through. And since the ACS versions are finished in GM’s Carbon Flash Metallic paint, the splitter will match all the other CFZ-painted trim pieces and fascias found on the car.

ACS Composite’s 5VM Side rockers also differ from the OEM versions in that the ACS version doesn’t require a side hole to be drilled during installation. Instead, ACS developed an innovative rocker bracket and then extended the underside to correct the 5VM’s original design, making it fail-proof and reversible. You’ll still have to drill and install the aluminum black split rivets under the car, and unlike the OEM versions, no holes are visible if the side rockers are ever removed. The ACS 5VM side rockers are also made out of PC Composite material to make the rockers stand up to rock chips and other road debris that’s launched in the air by the sticky Michelin tires.

If you feel this is out of your depth, you should have an experienced body shop do the installation for you. The 5VM Front Splitter does appear to be one of the easiest mods you can do on the C8 as you simply remove the T15 screws already on the car and then place the splitter and reinstall the screws. As for the side rockers, the process requires a little more time and planning. You’ll need a rivet gun and will be required to drill on the underside of the car.
