The benefit of having an auxiliary hardtop for your roadster is that you can drive your Corvette longer as the weather turns cooler, thereby extending your driving season for an extra couple of months each year. But putting that hardtop on your Corvette, or removing it when the weather turns nice can be a real struggle. You can call the wife out to the garage, go get a neighbor or attempt to do it yourself, but it only takes one careless move to damage the top or worse, the back of your Corvette. So when we saw the Glassworks Lift System at SEMA, we knew we had to spread the word on this innovative product.

Whittington Auction and Appraisal is handling the gavel duties for this collection of mostly insurance salvage Corvettes and parts. The sale is actually the first of two auctions with the second part dealing with thousands of used original Corvette parts.

Amazing 1978 Corvette Pace Car Barn Find with 13 Original Miles

1978 was a special year for Corvette. Not only was the sports car celebrating its 25th Anniversary, it was chosen to pace the Indianapolis 500. GM celebrated the event with a special Indy 500 Pace Car replica, a fully optioned Corvette painted Black and Silver and featuring silver interior and polished aluminum wheels. When the Wall Street Journal published a front page story on March 27,1978 reporting on the special edition Corvette, prices went wild and many of the 6502 replicas were purchased as investments by collectors.

1981 Corvette Gets Custom iPad Install

There are some people who have been blessed with the do-it-yourself gene and then there’s Corvette Forum member “Mewn” who has taken the art of custom fabrication to a new level. Mewn’s 1981 Corvette was already a head turner with its huge high-rise 505 big block sticking out of the custom hood. Mewn had been working on the interior and already had installed a custom stereo controlled by a touch screen DVD player, but that quite wasn’t good enough and so he decided to install an Apple iPad2 instead.

[PICS] Paragon Reproductions 2011 Open House

Paragon Reproductions hosted their annual open house a couple of weekends ago at their sprawling facility in Rankin, MI. Attendees were able to wander each of the several buildings on the grounds, buy a host of C1 – C4 Corvette parts, and enjoy a complementary lunch. Of course, one could also check out the 100 or so Corvettes that showed up too. We made a late summer road trip up to Paragon and you see can see some of our photos from the event after the break.

Corvette Auction Results: 1969 L88 Corvette Sells for $562,500 at Mecum Dallas

A ton of excitement was generated on Saturday afternoon at Mecum’s inaugural auction in Dallas. Of the 116 L88 Corvettes that were built in 1969, the black coupe that hit the auction block this past Saturday may be one of the finest examples of them all. An all original Corvette, the Black L88 coupe dominated the attention of bidders and its stong selling price at $562,500 set the high sale of the entire auction.

Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas 2011: Corvette Sales Bring in $2.5 Million

The 4th Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector car auction in Las Vegas concluded Saturday night with 46 Corvettes crossing the auction block over the 3-day sale. The Sales for Corvettes totaled $2,549,250 which includes the 10% buyer’s commission. Check out the top sellers of the auction as well as the full results following the jump.
