Corvettes for Sale: 1975 Corvette Convertible in Bright Green Metallic on Hemmings

There was a time when enthusiasts thought the ’75 Corvette would be the last convertible Stingray ever made.

Indeed, many of the 4,629 convertibles produced at the St. Louis factory that year were probably purchased by owners who thought they would squirrel them away as a future collectible.

Times change, though, and of course, now we know the roadster did indeed return to the Corvette lineup in 1986 and has been a part of each generation ever since.

One such low-mileage ’75 convertible in Amherst, Ohio is currently up for sale on Hemmings, where the owner is asking $46,500 – nearly $40,000 more than the original MSRP of $8,645.10. Times do change, indeed.

Besides being one of the few ’75 convertibles built, this car has other rare features, like its Bright Green Metallic paint (second rarest with just 1,664 produced behind the 1,268 Steel Blue units), its more powerful L82 engine (one of 2,372), and its four-speed manual transmission (chosen by 1,057 owners). Remember, those numbers are out of a total production run of 38,465, so with less than 5,000 convertibles made, despite being their swan song, it was obvious that the T-top coupe was heavily favored by customers.

This car was well equipped, with nearly $2,000 worth of options added, including power windows / steering / brakes, auxiliary painted hardtop, four-season air conditioning, tilt-telescopic steering wheel, map light, AM/FM stereo radio, and Medium Saddle Custom Interior.

Going on 50 years later, this numbers-matching Corvette has been driven just 22,500 miles and is said to remain “mostly original and comes with lots of history.”

That even includes the original Goodyear Steelguard tires on the original wheels.

We’ve always preferred the ’75 in Silver, but this Bright Green Metallic with white soft top and Saddle interior really pops, too. Seeing the price on this car makes me wish I had picked up one of these cars back when they were less than $20,000 if memory serves right. Oh well, hindsight is 20/20, huh?
