Friday’s Featured Corvettes for Sale

by Keith Cornett on August 24, 2007

Earlier this week I broke the news that the Corvettes at Carlisle auction was being reduced to just a Saturday-only auction. Since we are one day out from that event, I thought it would be appropriate to look at several of the cars that have already been consigned and ready to sell. 1963 Corvette Coupe
1963 Corvette CoupeMy top pick for the show is the 1963 Corvette Z06 Coupe (Lot C021). The Silver Blue Corvette, already desirable due to its split window configuration is just 1 of 199 Corvettes to have the Z06 option and 1 of 63 to have the NO3 36 gallon “tanker” option. The Corvette is a matching numbers car with correctly dated 327 ci 360 hp fuel injected motor. The odometer reads 89,000 miles, but 0 miles have been put on the Corvette since 1973.The Corvette has both NCRS Top Flight and Bloomington Gold certificates. Click here to view the Auction Description page. 1967 Corvette Convertible
1967 Corvette ConvertibleThis 1967 Corvette will probably not sell for the highest price of six 1967 Corvettes to go though the show, but it’s certainly one of the nicest we’ve seen on the Carlisle List. The Marina Blue Corvette Convertible is powered by a 427 ci 400 hp coupled to a Powerglide transmission. Documented with the tank sticker, this Corvette has a host of options including Air Conditioning, Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Windows, Side Exhaust and Rally Wheels on Red Line tires. It received a Bloomington Gold Certificate back in 2002. Click here to view the Auction Description page. 1999 Mallett 435 Corvette Coupe
1999 Mallett 435 Corvette CoupeFinally, what would Carlisle be without a Corvette from the late co-founder of Corvettes at Carlisle Chip Miller. Chip’s 1999 Mallett 435 is selling at no reserve. Featuring a Mallett 435 Conversion, the Black on Black C5 has 500 hp. Only 17,200 miles are on the Corvette, and you can bet that it has “never seen rain”. The Corvette’s Mallett conversion includes a 6.1 liter 372 CI V8 engine, Long tube headers, and body emblems with the “Mallett 435″ logo. A very nice tuner Corvette with a pedigree of having been owned by one the greats in the Corvette hobby. Click here to view the Auction Description page. Do you have a Corvette for sale that you think would be worthy of being featured? Drop me an email and let me know where we can find out more about it. And stay tuned for next week’s Friday’s Featured Corvettes.

Friday’s Featured Corvettes for Sale

by Keith Cornett on August 10, 2007

Our weekly roundup of Corvettes for sale takes us to Bowling Green for the sale of a C6 which is our eBay pick of the week. A massive collection of horsepower out of PA catches our eye. Lastly, we’ll give you a preview of one of the gems offered at the upcoming Russo and Steele Monterey auction. 2006 #000001 Corvette Coupe
2006 Corvette Coupe VIN #00001I may be wrong on this call, but I do believe this is the first time the National Corvette Museum has turned to eBay for the sale of one of its collector Corvettes. On the block is the first 2006 Corvette Coupe produced, VIN #00001. This Corvette Coupe has a number of firsts that any collector would desire. The single digit VIN, the first Monterey Red Corvette and the first Corvette with the paddle shift 6-Speed automatic. The Corvette has been on tour with GM at various media events, which accounts for the Coupe having just 138 miles. As of this writing, the Corvette has 9 bids with the current bid being $55,350. The Coupe has yet to reach reserve. See more photos and place a bid at eBay.com 2006 Corvette Z06 Collection
Collection of Six 2006 Corvette Z06sI think we’ve reached a period of excess when we’re talking about need to own every color of Z06 from 2006. But that’s exactly what our next featured Corvettes for sale are all about. HoltAutoWeb.com has just such a collection of six 2006 Corvette Z06s, one in every color offered. Other than the fact that six Corvette Z06′s would look awesome in any garage (that can hold six cars), we’re not real sure of the rationale for buying this collection unless you have the ability to store them for 20 or more years. 1957 Corvette 283 FI Convertible
1957 Corvette Convertible with a 283 FuelieIt was only a couple of weeks ago when played Corvette Poker and asked the question, what trumps a big block? There are only a couple of Corvettes that can compete with the aura of the 1967 big blocks and this 1957 fuel injected Corvette is one of them. Offered at the Russo and Steele Monterey Auction next weekend, this black with silver coves Corvette features a matching numbers 283 ci fuelie engine coupled to a 4-speed transmission. The Corvette recently underwent a frame-off restoration and is ready roll. Check it out at Russo and Steele Do you have a Corvette for sale that you think would be worthy of being featured? Drop me an email and let me know where we can find out more about it. And stay tuned for next week’s Friday’s Featured Corvettes.

Friday’s Featured Corvettes for Sale

by Keith Cornett on July 27, 2007

Owning a car that was previously owned by a celebrity is like owning part of pop culture history. In this week’s Featured Corvettes for Sale, we’ve come across a very nice straight axle for sale by Max Weinberg, E-Street Band drummer and band leader of NBC’s “Late Night with Conan O’Brien”. We’ll also pick a Corvette from the Mecum High Performance Auction in Iowa as well as show you our eBay Corvette pick of the week. 1957 Corvette Convertible
1957 Corvette ConvertibleIt was 1975 when the Boss broke through to the top of the music charts and the musicians who made up the E-Street Band rode that wave with him. Drummer Max Weinberg recalls growing up in the Beach Boys era when songs like Shutdown romanticized the Corvette Sting Ray. And when car enthusiasts become successful as Max Weinberg has, having a large garage full of classic and antique cars is the norm. At the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in Monterey, California, Max Weinberg will be offering several classics including a 1957 Chevrolet Corvette. Max describes the Corvette as a trailer queen, totally disassembled and restored back to new…better than new as Weinberg states in this Forbes Auto interview:

“The Corvette is absolutely a trailer queen show car. It’s like a brand new car. It was completely and totally disassembled, and Dominick (Salvemini), who I think is one of the premier restorers in the country, because of our personal relationship took even greater care than he normally would. And normally he’s A-plus, plus – this is beyond. He is very precise, let’s just say that. So this car is stunning, the color is stunning and it’s essentially a new car – it’s a new ’57 Corvette. And it was one of the editions with the radio delete and heater delete, which was a very specific function. This was a car that was meant to be driven fast. One thing we did do is we lowered the engine compression a bit to accept regular gas, because if you kept it with the original compression, the higher compression, you’d need jet fuel.”
Max’s 1957 Corvette will be offered by Christie’s Auctions on August 16th at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in Monterey, California. 1967 Corvette Convertible
1967 Corvette ConvertibleMecum Auctions is hosting a 250 car gathering in Des Moines this weekend and several very nice Corvettes are being offered. If you’re looking for an original mid-year that you’re not afraid to drive, then this beautiful 1967 Corvette Convertible could be just what the doctor ordered. You can still get into a very nice small block midyear for under $50,000, and trust me, there’s nothing small about owning a 327 ci 300 hp American Classic. This 1967 has two previous owners and is numbers matching with documentation. The Corvette comes in Marina Blue with Bright Blue interior, has the auxiliary hard top and is a 4-Speed. The only catch on this car is that it’s being sold in Iowa tomorrow, but Mecum offers absentee bidding so get moving now! 2005 Corvette Coupe
2005 Corvette CoupeOur last Corvette was chosen because Yellow Corvettes are just cool. Oh, and 750 hp Corvettes are cool too. Why wait for the Blue Devil/SS with its projected 650 horsepower when you can get a proven 10 second Corvette for half the price. This 2005 Velocity Yellow Corvette was modded by MTI and features a Procharger Supercharger, upgraded MTI cam, Kooks headers and a Borla SS exhaust. It’s an automatic and has just 26,000 miles. The 05 Coupe is being offered on ebay with a Buy-It-Now price of just $47,995. Do you have a Corvette for sale that you think would be worthy of being featured? Drop me an email and let me know where we can find out more about it. And stay tuned for next week’s Friday’s Featured Corvettes.

Friday’s Featured Corvettes for Sale

by Keith Cornett on July 20, 2007

Today’s Featured Corvettes for Sale takes us to the land down under to bring you a very special Corvette and then we delve into eBay where a couple more unique cars are available. 1991 Twin Turbo Callaway Corvette
1991 Twin Turbo Callaway CorvetteThe question begs to be asked. How does a 1991 Twin Turbo Callaway Corvette end up to be for sale in Australia? Perhaps we’ll never know, but the current owner liked the car so much that he built a house around it. 1991 was the last year the Callaway B2K option was offered, and only 62 Corvettes were retrofitted with upgrade, which by the way, added $33,000 to the purchase price. The Twin Turbo B2K Corvette is being offered by Shannon’s of Melbourne, Australia and is priced around $180,000 AD which converts to nearly $160,000 USD. 2000 Callaway C12
2000 Callaway C12And speaking of Callaway, how about the Callaway C12 that is currently available in eBay. The Corvette-based Callaway C12 is Number 17 of 19 produced in 2000. Featuring a 6.2 liter 480 hp Supernatural engine, and unique styling both inside and out, the Callaway C12′s original MSRP was $222,170, but this preowned model with just 1,849 miles is available for $149,000. Oh, and for that price, the matching Schedoni fitted luggage is included. Offered by RUF Auto Centre in Dallas, Texas. 1969 L89 Corvette Project Car
1969 Corvette Convertible with an L89While it seems that we’ve focused on the 1969 Corvette this week, we came across this project Corvette quite by accident. Also being offered on eBay, but only until the auction ends later tonight, is this big block billed as a real deal 1969 L89 Corvette. Only 390 Corvettes were offered with this option back in ’69, which is essentially an L71 427 ci 435 hp engine with aluminum cylinder heads. Pictures of the casting numbers on the engines appear to be correct but an on-premises inspection should be conducted on any Corvette before taking possession. The engine is out of the car and has been rebuilt, but the body still needs attention. Current bid is $17,101 and has yet to break the reserve. 2000 Corvette Coupe – SEMA Show Car
2000 Corvette Coupe featured at 2005,2006 SEMA ShowThis 2000 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe is a two-time SEMA Car, having appeared at the Sin City show in both 2005 and 2006, which more than explains the bling. The coupe features a Wide Body kit, vented hood, C6 headlights, racing spoiler, custom paint and more. The Corvette has served as a company show car for ARK Exhaust and so it also features an ARK stainless exhaust system with an X flow pipe. As an added benefit the vinyl graphics on the car can be removed. The Corvette has 61K miles and has a current bid of $25,000 with no reserve. And lest there be any doubters of this Corvettes SEMA pedigree, click the photo for a close-up of the hood ornaments. Do you have a Corvette for sale that you think would be worthy of being featured? Rick Conti at EVS Chevrolet got a shipment this week of six of these barely used Festival Corvettes. Each Corvette features an Indy 500 Festival sticker. 1965 Corvette - Bloomington Gold Benchmark®The most elusive of Bloomington’s awards is the Benchmark, and this 1965 Corvette Coupe became only 1 of 12 1965 Corvettes to achieve Benchmark® status. To achieve Benchmark status, a Corvette must first earn the Survivor® award and then be Bloomington Gold® certified. This 1965 Coupe features the very first Corvette big block engine, the 396 ci 425 hp L78 and has just 21,000 actual miles. The Coupe has a very desirable color combination of Rally Red with a Black interior. Offers over $200,000 are being accepted by ProTeamCorvette.com 1969 Corvette Coupe – SCCA Tribute Car
1969 Corvette Coupe - SCCA Tribute CarThis very unique 1969 “SCCA Vintage Racing Tribute” Corvette Coupe has only 19,900 original miles. Options include factory air (not installed), PB, PW, T&T, AM/FM, and headrests. Several boxes full of original and NOS parts and manuals are included with the sale. Available for $32,990.
