Corvettes for Sale: 1993 Corvette ZR-1 Offered on Craigslist

The owner of this “tastefully modified” 1993 Corvette ZR-1 calls it “the ultimate ’90s American automotive icon.”

He won’t get any argument from this corner.

After adding 3,000 miles during the past year, the owner of this “King of the Hill” Corvette has reluctantly decided to part with it “because I don’t use it as much as I want to due to life priorities,” he says.

He’s offering it on craigslist out of the Oswego, Illinois area, a little southwest of Chicago, and is asking $31,500 for his car, one of only 448 ZR-1s and one of just 59 Torch Red units made in ’93.

That model year marked the first year of the increased power output for the ZR-1, with horsepower climbing to 405 because of mods to the cylinder heads and drivetrain, up from “just” 375 during the first three years of production. It would also be the last year for the ’90-’93 interior as well as the first year for the passive keyless entry system. In Car and Driver’s 10 Best issue, the ’93 ZR-1 was the winner of the top speed category at 179 mph.

That was then, this is now. Thirty years later, the seller says the car still starts reliably and runs very strong, and he gets regular thumbs-ups at stoplights and gas stations. He adds that it’s always garage-stored under a car cover, on a battery tender, when not in use during the weekdays or inclement weather.

The car has been serviced regularly by ZR-1 specialist Marc Haibeck since 2020, and new parts have been added over the past three years, including a radiator in 2023, a battery and weatherstripping in 2022, and FX3 shocks in 2020.

The car is showing 54,500 miles with no accidents and based on the photos with the listing remains in immaculate condition inside and out. The A/C is said to blow “ice cold,” the headliner in the fiberglass top is in “perfect” condition, the ZF six-speed manual transmission “shifts very smooth,” and there are no warning lights on.

Among the mods are Stainless Works headers, Dana 4.10 gears, Haibeck performance chip, “genuine” OEM A-mold wheels from the ’94-’95 ZR-1, Flowmaster mufflers that retain the factory tips, upgraded LED headlights and fog lights, and tinted side windows and rear hatch.

“Buy with confidence that you will get a great looking and great driving car,” the seller says. “The 4.10 gears and headers really make this a fun car to drive. The exhaust adds a nice deep rumble around town to turn heads, and the engine sings at high RPM exactly like the LT5 V8 should.”
