Our friends at Mecum Auctions have a double shot of events happening in October beginning this week with the Indy Fall Special 2023 which runs Thursday, October 5th through Saturday, October 7th at the Indiana State Fairgrounds and Event Center. The second date for October will be held in conjunction with the Chattanooga Motorcar Festival with the Chattanooga Collector Car Auction auction held Friday, October 13th and Saturday, October 14th at the Chattanooga Convention Center. Gates open at both locations at 8:00 am ET with the car auctions beginning daily at 10:00 am ET.
Indy Fall Special 2023
Mecum currently has an eclectic collection of 42 Corvettes currently consigned with seven offered at No Reserve at the Indy Fall Classic. The majority fall within the C2-C4 years but all generations are represented with the earliest being a 1954 Corvette Roadster in Black, which is bookended with a new 2023 Corvette Stingray Coupe. The Joel Hipp Collection is offering a 2019 Corvette ZR1 Convertible at No Reserve, and a 1963 Corvette Sting Ray Split Window Coupe is among the auction’s Main Attractions. Here are the Corvettes we’ll be watching during the three-day Indy Fall Special:
S109.1 – 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe
This Ermine White 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe is interesting to say the least. It’s a driver quality Coupe with Blue interior and it has 73,763 miles on the odometer. The VIN is 057 and it was built on September 7, 1962. This could be a pre-production factory AC car and the NCRS Shipping Report shows it was delivered to the Salt Lake City Chevrolet Zone office. The Corvette is equipped with the 327 V8 engine and the 4-Speed manual transmission. It also has power windows, white stripe tires, and the original wheel covers.
F99 – 1965 Corvette Convertible Offered at No Reserve
A Red/Red 1965 Corvette Sting Ray Convertible hits the Indy auction block on Friday with a 327 V8 engine mated to a 4-speed manual transmission and 18,675 miles shown on the odometer. This is also an early Corvette wearing VIN 206. Features include a white convertible top and an auxiliary Red hardtop. The Corvette wears knock-off style wheels with Goldline tires, and the original rally wheels are also included.
F146 – 1996 Corvette Collector’s Edition Convertible
This 1996 Corvette Collector’s Edition Convertible is highly original and very clean! The special LT4 330 hp V8 motor is coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission and there are 54,304 miles on the odometer. The Sebring Silver exterior paint appears to be very clean while the Silver interior looks outstanding as well.
F233 – 1972 Corvette LT1 Convertible
Mecum will offer this 1972 Corvette LT1 Convertible on Friday. The matching number’s 350 ci LT1 engine offers 255 horsepower and there are only 24K miles on the odometer. The Targa Blue exterior has only had one repaint and the Blue interior offers power windows as well. The Corvette is well-documented with its Protect-o-Plate and owner’s manual, and the car was Bloomington Gold Certified and it has an NCRS Top Flight Award as well.
S89 – 2019 Corvette ZR1 Convertible Offered at No Reserve
This 2019 Corvette ZR1 will be offered as part of the Joel Hipp Collection and the car will be offered Saturday at No Reserve! The LT5 755-hp Corvette has only 559 miles on the odometer. It’s one of 197 Convertibles with the Sebring Orange Design Package, featuring Sebring Orange exterior, Orange interior stitching, Orange seat belts, and it wears the factory black alloy wheels and Orange calipers. The Corvette is also equipped with the High Wing spoiler.
S207 – 2023 Corvette Stingray Z51 Coupe Offered at No Reserve
The Indy Fall Classic offers a great opportunity to pick up what is basically a brand new 2023 Corvette Stingray Coupe. It only shows 170 miles on the odometer. The Corvette is loaded with features that include the Z51 Performance Package, Front Lift, Magnetic Selective Ride Control, and the 3LT interior. Inside is a two-tone Red/Black interior with Sueded microfiber-wrapped steering wheel, Stealth Interior trim, and Torch Red seatbelts. The car rides on 20-Spoke Gloss Black forged Aluminum Wheels with Bright Red brake calipers.

The world’s largest collector car auction returns to the Chattanooga Motorcar Festival for the Chattanooga Collector Car Auction held on October 13-14th with 600 collector vehicles including 21 Corvettes! The Chattanooga run list for Corvettes is very diverse with a nice mix of classics and modern-day performance vehicles. F188 – 2003 Corvette Z06 50th Anniversary
This Black 2003 Corvette Z06 was formerly owned and maintained by MotorTrend/MavTV/Lokar Car Show Host Sam Mahdavi of Sam’s Garage TV Show. The Black/Black Z06 wears 50th Anniversary badges and it’s powered by the 405-hp LS6 mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Features include the Head Up Display, Dual climate control, tilt steering column, and power steering.
S37 – 1956 Corvette Convertible Offered at No Reserve
This Red/Red 1956 Corvette will be offered at No Reserve on Saturday, October 14th. The car had previously undergone a no-expense comprehensive restoration. It features a 265/225 hp dual quad V8 with the special high-lift Duntov camshaft, a Powerglide automatic transmission, and a power-operated folding convertible top. Restoration photos and portfolio of receipts are included.
S76.1 – 2019 Corvette ZR1 Coupe
This Black/Black 2019 Corvette ZR1 was an early build and it wears VIN 058. The black ZR1 is equipped with the low wing spoiler, Black alloy wheels, and a removable visible Carbon Fiber roof panel. The 755-hp LT5 V8 is coupled to an 8-Speed automatic with paddle shifts.
S177 – 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible Edition
As the swan song for the C6 generation, Chevrolet offered the one-year 2013 Corvette 427 Convertible Edition which mated the Z06’s LS7 V8 into the Grand Sport’s widebody. The 427 Convertible is offered in the 60th Anniversary livery with an Arctic White exterior with 60th Anniversary stripes, Blue interior, and a Blue convertible top. There are 6,748 miles on the odometer and mods include an updated camshaft, Haltech intake, Kooks racing headers, X-pipe, and a Borla Exhaust.
S191 – 1963 Corvette Convertible
This 1963 Corvette Convertible is the final Corvette lot offered at Chattanooga. Dressed in Tuxedo Black with a Red interior, the 1963 Corvette offers a matching numbers 327 V8 engine and 4-speed manual transmission, and it includes its auxiliary hardtop. The Corvette has previously had a frame-off restoration. Photos and documentation are also available.
