Corvettes for Sale: 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe on eBay

When it comes to classic cars, there aren’t many more beautiful than a 1963 Corvette Sting Ray split window coupe.

That definitely includes this Riverside Red example that’s drawing a lot of expensive interest on eBay, where with eight days left in the auction, the current bid is $109,600 – impressive, though still well short of the Buy It Now price of $129,500.

For that kind of money, the new owner will receive the pleasure of climbing behind the wheel of a restored Sting Ray that appears to need nothing, though if it was my wallet that was being emptied of more than 100 grand, I’d be a little upset that the horn and wipers aren’t functional. (Don’t you hate it when cars are so expensive and the seller nonchalantly passes off on items that don’t work? Well, fix them!)

Despite passing the century mark already, the seller calls this Corvette “probably the most reasonable priced driver quality split window for sale on today’s crazy split window frenzy!!”

The car is said to have undergone a “meticulous” restoration, with the current owner having enjoyed it for a year and with his itch for a split window apparently scratched, he’s “now ready to pass it on to its next lucky owner.”

He’s used it mainly for car shows where this Corvette garnered “numerous compliments,” he says.

Some purists might be upset that the color of the car has been changed from its original shade of Code 932 Saddle Tan, but we have no complaints with the replacement Riverside Red. Do you? It goes nicely with the correct Saddle leather interior, which has been restored to like-new condition throughout, including carpet, dash, and instruments.

One other question about the car is its drivetrain, which is described as a “period correct 327/300 hp engine.” That likely means it’s not the original one, but on a positive note, it is said to have been rebuilt by a previous owner 10,000 miles ago and now “runs and drives out very good.”

Highlights of the car include a frame and birdcage that are said to be rust-free, full power (windows, steering, and brakes), four-speed manual transmission, and a functional air-conditioning system. Since only 278 cars left the St. Louis factory with AC in ‘63, it’s unclear whether this car is one of those chosen few or just the recipient of an aftermarket system. Either way, the seller promises now that it’s “ice cold,” asking rhetorically “when was the last time you seen a 63 split window running around in the summer with the windows up and AC freezing you out?”

  1. If it had factory A/C it would have had a A/C vent over radio. This may be positive because the A/C is definitely more recent than 1963.
