Leak Confirms Admiral Blue and a New Exclusive Color Coming for the 2027 Corvette

One of the biggest changes that Chevrolet makes annually to the Corvette model lineup is the exterior color choices offered to customers. We have recently learned that for the 2027 model year, Chevrolet would be dropping both Riptide Blue Metallic and Hysteria Purple Metallic for two new colors. Now, thanks to another leak from GM’s ordering system, we’ve got a new update!

Our friend Justin from the HorsePower Obsessed YouTube channel shared this new discovery and he included two screenshots from GM’s internal computer systems showing the list of exterior colors for the 2027 Corvette. The two new colors were listed as:

GEC – Primary Color Exterior, Pitch Met – 1 (243F)
GTR – Primary Color Exterior, Opulent Blue Metallic (705U)

As a refresher, GM doesn’t call their paint names by the marketing names that we know them as and instead uses name that is used internally. We also have both the RPO codes for the colors and the accompanying paint codes that are handy for doing searches. We’ll start with the second one first, as it has been featured on Corvettes previously.

Admiral Blue Returns to the Corvette!

With the lighter Riptide Blue leaving in 2026, it was believed by many Corvette watchers that this would open up the possibility of Admiral Blue returning to the list of options, and sure enough the GTR code and the internal code name Opulent Blue Metallic all point to Admiral Blue returning in 2027.

Of all the speculation surrounding the two colors new for 2027, it was Admiral Blue that most of us believed would be returning. After all, recent leaks have confirmed the return of the Grand Sport model, and no other color is as closely associated to the Grand Sport model than Admiral Blue. It was the color that made its mark in 1996 on the 1,000 special edition Grand Sports produced, and then the color returned late in the 2016 model year where it was featured on Grand Sports (and other C7s) from 2017-2019.

General Motors made that guess even easier as one of the uncovered RPO codes for the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport was the Z15 Grand Sport Heritage Package. That was the same package offered in 2017 that included the fender hash mark graphics and center stripes, as well as interior accessories.

Corvette Getting a New, Exclusive Color for 2027?

As for the other color with the internal name of Pitch Metallic, that one is still a mystery. That color uses GEC as its regular production option (RPO) code and GEC would be new to the Corvette. The paint code of 243F (WA243F) was searched and after we couldn’t find anything that matched exactly, I put X.com’s Grok on the case to do a deep web search and also directed it to search the various automotive touchup paint websites, and he came back with the following:

Regarding the WA243F paint code, I searched multiple automotive touch-up paint websites (including automotivetouchup.com, touchupdirect.com, and paintscratch.com) and could not find any matches or listings for it. No products or color details are available under that exact code. The closest similar code I found is WA243L, which corresponds to Sky Gray Metallic (an older GM color from models like the 2007 Chevrolet Epica (export build in Korea), and touch-up paint for WA243L is readily available on sites like expresspaint.com, amazon.com, and spectralpaints.biz.”

Many Corvette enthusiasts have lamented about the loss of a Gray exterior for 2026. Currently the Corvette model lineup is missing a gray after Hypersonic Gray and Sea Wolf Gray were both retired in recent years. Now, Sky Gray does sound like the name of Corvette color as GM is using “Sky Cool Gray” as an interior color option, but we need something exciting that can stand on its own.

As we continue to look forward to the 2027 Grand Sport, one of the fantastic colors that was used previously on the C6 Grand Sport was Cyber Gray Metallic and that would be color that many owners would love to see again. But that’s just speculation so we’ll have to wait until we get more from General Motors. Hopefully we’ll see both new color codes at the Michelin NCM Bash at the end of April.

So what are your thoughts on these two colors for 2027? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

  1. 2027 is looking like an awesome year for Corvette, and maybe finally for my Corvette. Grand Sport AND Admiral Blue? Yes please!!!

  2. I was hoping for something a little more rare like that gorgeous Black Rose. Admiral Blue is nice, not big on the grey colors although the Sea Wolf Grey was appealing.

  3. Great news that Admiral Blue Metallic is coming back! You can’t have a Grand Sport without Admiral Blue as a color option. Cyber Gray Metallic was a great color on the C6 and first year C7’s. After Cyber Gray no Grays that have been offered on Corvette have looked as good and it would be an excellent color to bring back.

  4. Shark gray was pretty sharp, and I would also like to see Long Beach red come back, but that’s probably too close to Red Mist to make it as another choice.

  5. I Love my 2020 Shadow Gray Metallic coupe, but I want a convertible. I guess I will wait to see what the gray looks like before I order a 2027.

  6. Add the color combo on the GS plus the 6.6 eng and M6, you will have many lining up which includes me. This site even reported in the past that 34% of C7 Z06s were manual. The new GS will not be like your father’s Oldsmobile.

  7. I, too, would love to see both Admiral Blue and Cyber Gray return. I had an ’09 coupe in Cyber Gray with the Cobalt Red interior and Competition Gray wheels. It was super nice and pretty unique. I also had a ’17 Grand Sport coupe in Admiral Blue with the Heritage package (red hash), black wheels, and the rather boring black interior. I thought it looked killer, and it got all kinds of positive comments. Both cars were manuals, too. Offer me a ’27 GS in Admiral Blue with an acceptable wheel design and a stick (c’mon Chevy!) and I’ll have to think seriously about trading my Red Mist/Natural Dipped ’24 Stingray Z51. Which also looks killer with the Midnight Gray wheels with the red stripe. If you build it, they will come!

  8. Yo u need to BRING BACK GREAT MEMORIES !!!! LIKE THAT ENGLISH , OR FOREST GREEEN ! BEAUTIFULL ! MET !!! BACK IN 1969, 1968 !!!!.

  9. big mistake dropping sea wolf gray. with yellow calipers and seat belts it is a stopper.
