It may not be a real 1953 Corvette, but this “fantastic replica” might actually be the better car. And now it’s listed on eBay for a fraction of what an authentic ’53 would cost — $42,900 (or best offer) from a Michigan dealership.
My first reaction when opening the listing was simple: wow. This thing looks sharp. The silver paint gives it a far more aggressive, modern presence than the original Polo White worn by all 300 Corvettes built in 1953. And unlike the early C1s, which were beautiful but drove like farm equipment, this one promises real performance and comfort.
A big part of that comes from what’s under the skin. Instead of the Blue Flame Six and two speed Powerglide, this replica packs a 5.7 liter Vortec V8 paired with an automatic transmission, giving it the kind of power and drivability the original could only dream about. The red interior adds a bold contrast to the silver exterior and gives the cockpit a far more modern, custom feel.
According to the seller, the car represents a 15 year, no expense spared passion project:
“This is a fantastic replica of a ’53 Corvette with a twist that has a smoother ride, more comfortable interior, more power and better braking than the originals.”
The build sits on a 1972 Nova frame, features Wilwood brakes on all four corners, and even required a custom crafted windshield frame — a notoriously difficult piece to replicate. “Don’t get me started on what it took make the windshield frame,” the seller jokes.
“Every inch of this car has had professional touches from the paint/trim to the mechanicals,” he adds. The rear end has been narrowed, the mechanicals professionally sorted, and the car reportedly starts, idles, and drives “very smoothly with no shimmys, rattles, leaks or smoke.”
The odometer shows 138 miles, and the seller insists that number is accurate. LED lighting, fully functioning gauges, and a punchy powertrain round out a replica that’s clearly meant to be driven, not just admired.
There’s one catch: no top. What you see is what you get — a topless roadster built for sunny day cruising and guaranteed smiles.
“This thing is a little rocket as you can imagine,” the listing reads. “Please let us know if you have any questions or would like to have an inspection done here in our Traverse City showroom.”
Real ’53 Corvettes routinely sell well into six figure territory. For enthusiasts who love the look but want modern drivability — and a price tag that doesn’t require a trust fund — this replica might be the sweet spot.

I saw a really nice white 1953 replica just like this one at the July GAA classic car auction. It had a little more authentic looking 53 interior than this one. It only sold for $20000.
The 1972 Nova did not have a full frame.
