Imagine stumbling onto a secret stash of Corvettes, hidden for decades from the scrap yard’s crushers and reclaimed from barns, back roads, and salvage lots.
Tucked away on a private property in Michigan, this collection of C1, C2, and C3 Corvettes has been patiently waiting for the light of day – and for someone to tell their stories.
In this case, that someone is The Auto Archaeologist who’s taking viewers on a walk through this mishmash of old Corvettes – and other makes and models, too – in his latest YouTube video.
Carved out of an overgrown lot, this muscle-car haven belongs to a former insurance adjuster. Over the years, he rescued dozens of wrecked and abandoned Corvettes, dragging them to a safe spot so nobody would do anything to harm them. Of course, time hasn’t necessarily been kind to many of them, but The Archaeologist still believes at least a few are salvageable and some of the pieces could even be gathered together to make one complete car fit for the road.
Walking down the main row, you’ll immediately spot a remnant of a C1 Corvette sitting next to what’s left of C2s and even chrome-bumper and rubber-bumper C3s. Most have long ago been stripped of their valuable parts, including the engines, tail lights and interiors. But the faithful have no doubt that these cars are still Corvettes, though there is at least one that the Auto Archaeologist is unsure what generation it is.
GM fans will also find other members of the flock, like an old Monza next to a pair of stacked ‘Vettes, but in this case Che-vettes. There’s even a Monte Carlo SS, not far from some Toyota Land Cruisers, always appealing to off-road enthusiasts hunting original patina.
We never like to see old cars die, especially Corvettes, but this might be a case where it would be more humane to put these specimens out of their misery. What do you think?
Have any of you taken cars in this kind of condition and resuscitated them? Tell us your story in the comments below.

’62 is a C1…
Funny how most of them are resting on top of Fords.
How about Mark Worman and his plethora of MOPARs that he rescues and, often, returns to a vibrant life on the streets. He may be one of a kind.
