Can there be anything more embarrassing than wrapping your Corvette around a pole while leaving a car meet? We call this going “Full Mustang” after the Pony car’s reputation for their owner’s crashing their rides on the drive out. Unfortunately, too many Corvette owners seem to want to get in on the game.
Case in point? We take you to the Free State of Florida and a recent Cars and Coffee event in Wesley Chapel which is located just north of Tampa. Regardless of where it happened, the details are always the same.
You have a group of spectators with their phones out recording each of the cars leaving, and some of those cars offer more of a spirited exit than others. Watching the video below, an actual Mustang is able to navigate that turn despite the rear wheels starting to break loose. The Mustang driver is able to drive through it, successfully navigating the turn and goes on his way.
Unfortunately, the Florida Man (or woman?) driving the Orange C6 Corvette wasn’t as lucky. With the accelerator mashed to the floor, the car roars away and the driver tries to navigate the turn. Like the Mustang, the rear end goes squirrely but then C6 driver over-corrects which puts the car into a slow spin in the opposite direction with the driver side door taking the brunt of the impact from light pole on the side of the road.
The reaction from the camera guy was also pretty epic as he captured the C6 crashing into the poll after doing a full send. He totally vocalizes his surprise from the moment the car begins to slide, and it’s punctuated at the moment of impact.
Thankfully, we are spared from the aftermath of the crash when all those spectators run forward to capture what is arguably that Corvette driver’s worst moment behind the week captured for posterity.
As much fun as it is to mash the accelerator on that Corvette, remember this poor Corvette owner’s horrible experience and remind yourself never to go “Full Mustang” at a car meet. Plus, aways remember that these spectators with their phones recording are not your friends, and they don’t have your best interest in mind as they attempt to goad you into doing a full send your Corvette.

More car than the driver can handle….
I saw the full video a couple of days ago. When someone asked if she was okay, she turned and walked away saying she was fine while crying. Bad day for her and the Corvette…
If she had stayed in it when the ass-end first went to the right and just steered the car, she would have been alright. Getting on the brakes clinched her fate. Needs to go to Spring Mountain and learn how to drive.
Can’t stand those buttheads I see at every Cars and Coffee and car show I go too that have to record everything that moves while leaving the show.
Can we stop with the very cringe “Mustang crash” meme? It’s always been stupid as any high power car, especially front engine and RWD will fly off the road when driven by a moron.
While I love Corvettes and have one currently and am getting a 26 Z06, Mustang has always been my favorite car since I was a kid and it just really bothers me to see such a good and iconic car drug through the mud like this and it doesn’t deserve it at all. I don’t want to start hating Corvette people, but if they keep pushing this BS I may just have to sell my Corvettes and do just that.
Far more impact laden if they just drive away gracefully with these beautiful cars. Forget the galleries, they want you to crash, they’re looking for a thrill at the driver’s expense!
