One of the four Corvette Z06 GT3.Rs racing this weekend will be starting at the back of the class for the start of the 24 Hours of Le Mans after it had been disqualified after a technical inspection.

Racing Team Turkey by TF had been leading the class in practice sessions with Peter Dempsey laying down a lap time of 3:55.744 and a lead of two-tenths of a second over the nearest competitor.

During the post-session scrutineering, if was found that the No. 34 Corvette had excessive wear on the underside of the rear diffuser and had fallen out of regulation parameters. The disqualification from qualifying means they will start 25th in the LMGTE class for Saturday’s green flag.

A Corvette Racing spokesperson told Sportscar365.com, “Corvette Racing engineers are evaluating the other three Corvette entries in order to mitigate and keep all four cars in compliance for the event.”

The other three Corvettes in the class missed the Hyperpole 1 and that means the best starting position for Corvette Racing will be TF Sport’s No. 33 Corvette Z06 GT3.R which will start in 17th. The No. 2 Corvette finished 23rd and the No. 13 Corvette finished 24th.

  1. Technical Infringement, could this be an example of “anti-American sentiment,” or a legitimate technical violation. I wonder? Thanks, Ray
