Aired this week on FOX 5 Atlanta, viewers got an up‑close look at Chevrolet’s future as reporter Chris Rosenthal went live from Atlanta Motorsports Park, where Corvette engineers unveiled the brand’s upcoming 2027 performance lineup — and fired up engines that made even the camera crew take a step back.

Rosenthal opened the segment joking that he often talks about “the sound of belugas,” but this time he wanted the sound of a Corvette. Moments later, the rev of a new Grand Sport filled the broadcast.

“That is a beautiful, beautiful sound right there,” Rosenthal said as the exhaust note echoed across the track.

He then introduced Josh Holder, Corvette’s chief engineer, who walked FOX 5 through what’s coming for 2027 — starting with a brand‑new LS6 engine, a 6.7‑liter V8 making 535 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque and pushing the Stingray to a claimed 200 mph.

From there, the segment turned into a full Corvette showcase.

Holder highlighted the breadth of the upcoming models:

The Competition Yellow Grand Sport with the LS6 and Arctic White Grand Sport X, featuring an electrified all‑wheel‑drive front axle producing 186 horsepower, combining with the LS6 for a total of 721 horsepower.

“They’re incredible. It’s difficult to describe until you get to experience it yourself,” Josh said, noting that AMP was giving drivers a taste of Corvette performance.

The Z06, finished in Sebring Orange, equipped with the flat‑plane‑crank LT6 making 670 horsepower and revving to 8,600 RPM.

The jaw‑dropping Competition Yellow ZR1 with 1,064 horsepower, and the even wilder Blade Silver ZR1X, rated at 1,250 horsepower and capable of 233 mph and a quarter-mile time of 8.6 seconds.

Holder told FOX 5 that an Arctic White ZR1X (with blue and red livery) actually on hand in Atlanta recently set a new Pikes Peak record with driver JR Hildebrand.

“We’re super proud of the accomplishment… it demonstrates the capability of our all‑wheel‑drive technology,” he said, adding that it shows what a Corvette can do on a non-traditional track like Pikes Peak, “quite a torture test.”

Holder emphasized Corvette’s identity:

“Corvette has always been American — designed, engineered, developed, and built in the United States.”

He called his role a dream job, crediting the team behind the cars:

“I get to surround myself with some of the smartest people in the world. I learn every day. The talent behind these cars is absolutely amazing.” He called the team a “passionate group of people.”

FOX 5 teased additional coverage later in the afternoon, with Rosenthal saying viewers would get another close‑up look at the lineup during the 3 p.m. hour.

“Just incredible,” the anchor said back in studio. “And to see a car that (set a record) at Pikes Peak — that’s pretty impressive.”
