Corvettes for Sale: 1967 Corvette Restomod Coupe on Bring a Trailer

Count me as being one of those enthusiasts who doesn’t particularly care for the restored-by-the-book look of the second-gen Corvettes. Yes, I admire these immaculate restorations, but they can look too calm, sort of like the C3s that came with whitewall tires.

Instead, give me one of these modified, muscular-looking, beat-the-heck-out-of-you Sting Rays that look like Arnold Schwarzenegger if he were to be morphed into a car.

Indeed, that’s what you’ll find with this 1967 Corvette restomod coupe being offered on Bring a Trailer, where the high bid has climbed to $18,800 with five days left in the auction.

The three-quarter view of this red 1967 Corvette from down low is as mean-looking as a C2 gets, what with its flared rear fenders, side pipes, black hood and fender stripes, and front splitter, not to mention the new domed hood, front splitter, 15-inch Boyd Coddington wheels, and triple taillights.

Underneath that hood, by the way, is a 5.7-liter L98 V8 that includes revised headers, Be Cool radiator, and Optima Yellow Top battery. A Tremec five-speed manual transmission came into the picture last year.

Unfortunately, at least in this writer’s opinion, the car runs into a road block once you open the door. While it’s in nice condition inside with a pleasing color palette of red and black, there’s just something jarring about the addition of the two-tone bucket seats swiped from a C4.

All in all, though, this looks like a very fun car to drive, and just to look at. What’s your take on this Sting Ray that started life as a rather sedate Goodwin Green example?

  1. My take is it’s really wicked and racy looking especially from the rear. It would look even better with bigger diameter wheels and plus sized tires and removal of that short black stripe on the front end that doesn’t make any sense. I would take it in a heartbeat!

  2. No where near the well thought out well executed restomods seen at Mecum or Barrett. Looks like someone cleaned out their garage to build this car.

  3. I like it. The C1 style steering wheel looks good. Would hope telescoping column would be included. Interior is pretty stock looking which I favor, especially the dashboard components.

  4. Well done. Great aesthetics through and through to include the C4 seats. Would not let this go for less than 60K. My2C
