‘Vettes and vets are a natural combination.

That’s why it’s not surprising to hear that the National Corvette Museum has joined a nationwide program called the Blue Star Museums initiative that will be offering free admission to currently serving U.S. military personnel and their families all summer.

“The National Corvette Museum has celebrated and honored our Military members by hosting an annual Vets ‘n Vettes event for more than a decade, as well as offering special admission to Military personnel and their families,” says Bryce Burklow, NCM Interim Chief Operations Officer. “We look forward to our inaugural year as a Blue Star Museum and eagerly await to welcome new and returning Military families to our Corvette campus.”

This year’s program kicks off on Armed Forces Day on Saturday, May 18 and will come to a halt on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 22. You can find a list of participating museums at arts.gov/BlueStarMuseums.

The National Endowment for the Arts and Blue Star Families, along with the Department of Defense and participating museums across the nation, are partners in the Blue Star Museums initiative.

Maria Rosario Jackson, PhD, chair of the National Endowment for the Arts, says that organization is grateful to the National Corvette Museum for its participation in the Blue Star Museums program, saying she hopes military families “will take this opportunity to create meaningful, lifelong memories.”

“Whether you are traveling this summer, getting to know a new duty location, or exploring what your community has to offer,” Jackson says, “Blue Star Museums is a wonderful opportunity to create connection and find inspiration.”

Blue Star Families CEO Kathy Roth-Douquet adds that military families love Blue Star Museums, noting: “Access to museums enriches military families, creates wonderful family memories, and helps us feel connected to our communities so that we can thrive and do the hard job we have to do for the country. I am delighted for us to launch the 14th year of this very special program.”

Joining the NCM in the Blue Star Museums program will be children’s museums, art, science, and history museums, zoos, gardens, lighthouses, and more, from all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The list isn’t complete, either, as other organizations are invited to sign up for the Blue Star Museum initiative throughout the summer.

Anyone serving in the United States Military (and up to five family members) is invited to enjoy free admission, including members of the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, and Space Force, as well as the Reserves, National Guard, U.S. Public Health Commissioned Corps, and NOAA Commissioned Corps. Show your Geneva Convention common access card (CAC), DD Form 1173 ID card (dependent ID), DD Form 1173-1 ID card or the Next Generation Uniformed Services (Real) ID card for entrance into a participating Blue Star Museum.
