We can’t wait to hear from our readers what they think about this rendering of a four-door Corvette sedan done by the folks at Bimble Design.

The rumor mill, of course, has been running rampant on the internet over the past few years about a possible expansion of the Corvette nameplate, including SUVs and sedans that would mooch off the legendary sports car’s reputation.

While we are game for anything Corvette-related, we have to admit these particular renderings don’t exactly get our blood boiling.

While the front end is obviously a Corvette, the side profile looks more like a Porsche Panamera, which leaves us lukewarm, the three-quarter view from the rear is reminiscent of the now-deceased Cadillac XLR, and the rear end looks more like the current-generation Camaro.

We found this set of renderings on TopSpeed, and the guys over there are enthusiastic about this rendering, saying: “There’s no telling where Chevy will take the Corvette if it follows through on the rumors a four-door model is coming, but if it’s like these renderings, we’re excited to see the outcome.”

TopSpeed says they would like to see a gasoline-powered sedan, not an electrified city-slicker, with perhaps the Stingray’s 495-horsepower V8 or the 670-horsepower flat-plane crank of the Z06 installed under the front hood. We’d second that motion.

But if Chevy is going to mess with an icon like the Corvette, it’s the hope here that the designers at Chevy will step up their game a notch and create an unforgettable ORIGINAL look for a sedan that has customers salivating the way they did back in the day over the ’63 Split Window or the third-generation ’68. Those designs are iconic, and if Chevy doesn’t hit it out of the park with its sedan and SUV models, it’ll be a sad day for the model. In other words, we don’t want just another boring four-door sedan like the Taurus – it has to be as special as the C1 through C8 sports cars have been.

  1. That’s great – perfect for the old guys that can no longer get into or out of a C8 but don’t want to throw away their ‘vette jackets and hats. 🙂

  2. Well . . . clearly it IS a Corvette ~*~ and the first looks are nice . . . BUT – – –
I think the world maybe has enough four-door “sports cars” already… it’s been done by some of the finest marques in the auto industry… ‘So while no one actually asked me what I think of the idea — an’ I really don’t think much of it — I sincerely hope that Chevy does not dive into this just yet – and divert their attention (even by a little bit) from continuing the enviable reputation and quality of America’s one and ONLY true sportscar.
I’m in my seventies now and ever since I was putting together plastic models as a very young fan of the Chevy Corvette. I was 17 when I got my first real Corvette (a new 1966 327/350, 4-speed convertible that was all Silver both inside and outside).
‘Needless to say, I was hooked, but good ~ and I have never looked back!
But for seventy years the name “Corvette” has stood for two-seater motoring excitement, performance, allure, panache, quality and head-turning good looks… I think the introduction of a 4-door ‘Vette is not such a great idea for the legendary sportscar… even though it will likely sell fairly well — and that is, of course, an very important point of interest for Chevy.
~ Thanks so much for soliciting reader and fan opinions … I wish Chevy and Corvette much success in all that they do for the future of America’s only true sportscar.

  3. LOL, there are still old folks including myself that can get in and out of a C8. I have never owned a Corvette, but on the list for a 2023. cannot wait until I am able to order mine. Please, that is the ugliest car with the “corvette” name. I do not think it will sell very well. I may very well be it is an insult to the iconic name.

  4. Ford diluted the Mustang brand with an SUV. Ask Ford what it’s done for sales.
(Whatever they tell you isn’t reflected in my Ford stock!)
GM: DON’T dilute the Corvette brand.

  5. I say, don’t push your luck, Corvette.

Remember, this idea by Ford is what
eventially led to the demise of the
beautiful and iconic 2 seater Thunderbird.

To the Mustang lovers. I’m not one, however they are a
very nice machine. Imagine if Ford went toe to toe with
Corvette through the years with their 2 seater T-Bird, what kind
of animal would that be today? I’d say it would be a beast.

As the Judge says, “whay say you”.

  6. Heck if they are going to dilute the brand build a four door pickup like the Jeep Gladiator. Offer a diesel option with big 8″ chrome exhaust pipes.
