Times are changing, for sure, but is the world ready for an all-electric four-door Corvette sedan?
Our friends over at AutoEvolution think so.
They recently posted renderings of what the C8 Corvette could look like if it had two extra doors, and we have to admit we had to look twice to make sure there were indeed four doors. Once that was confirmed, we also have to admit we kinda like the look – reminds us of the now-defunct Mazda RX8s in a way. We think it definitely looks better than the four-passenger concept C2 Sting Ray that fortunately never hit the production line back in the 1960s.
But as we said, times are changing. If you have to have a four-door electric car, why not get one with the character of the Corvette? The internet has speculated for years about Chevy possibly spinning off the Corvette brand to make an SUV, the way Porsche, Lamborghini, and Ferrari have done. Some might say, why not take the branding a step further and offer a four-door electric sedan and an SUV, too.
We happen to think General Motors will be successful with its forthcoming electric vehicles because they’ll not only deliver a new kind of green power but more importantly they’re exciting to look at – witness the new Hummer and Cadillac Lyriq, if you don’t believe us.
You could likely add a Corvette four-door sedan to that list of exciting vehicles, too, as the car would definitely look great if it’s a Corvette, not to mention being able to take advantage of GM’s new Ultium battery technology and a possible dual-motor setup that could easily make 800 or more horsepower. Of course, a four-door Corvette might not be as practical as some other electric vehicles, because even with a stretched wheelbase, it looks like there probably wouldn’t be a lot of room for rear passengers unless they’re youngsters.
We’re interested to see what you think about these renderings that show a four-door C8 in Accelerate Yellow, Torch Red, and Elkhart Lake Blue. Would you buy one?

Looks pretty good especially if it were powered by a Z 06 engine. I always liked the 79 Corvette America 4 door Corvette. Thought it would be great for a family hot rod. Though i have never seen one in person. From what i have read it was a dog with 3 legs when it came to power.
Pass for me, I’m waiting for the truck version.
No thanks, the Corvette should remain a two door sports car that runs on gasoline. Few corvette enthusiasts would want an electric sports car. If Gm wants a four door sports sedan then come up with a different design that is unique to that style.
Getting an extra two seats in there when there is not any room behind the seats now would be a challenge! Seems like it would have to be much longer, even with the current running gear gone and motors on the axles. Worth a try now since Brandon demands the end of fossil fuels usage.
Hard pass on the sedan.
I dom’t care what Porsche and Lamborghini have done. Corvette is a 2 seat, 2 door sports car…not a brand that can be bastardized.
The answer is, NO, and NO! At least it looks better than Ed Cole’s proposed 1963 Sting Ray 4-seater… http://www.corvettereport.com/corvette-timeline-tales-10-18-62-chevrolet-cancels-the-four-seater-sting-ray-project/
Regardless, Chevrolet should never, ever follow Porsche.
And I DON’T CARE what Brandon or Sandy Cortez wants!
They can call it whatever they want, but it won’t be a Corvette to me.
not and call it a Corvette
My 2014 V-8 7-speed manual is my last Corvette. Don’t like the C8 and the only EV I will buy is Tesla!
DONT CALL IT A CORVETTE!! Same goes with the SUV they’re doing, just DONT CALL IT A CORVETTE!! GM Learn from Ford, dont call it a vette and we will accept it.
Can I tow my “Corvette-Camper” with it? 😂
The Cadillac CT-5 Blackwing with manual transmission has 4 doors, rear wheel drive, and lots of horsepower.
Make sure it has a continental kit spare.
At my age and with my interest, an electric Corvette and or a 4 door sedan Corvette don’t interest me in one bit. I’m too old school to be moved by an appliance, even if it does have the Corvette name plate on it. Cars have become nothing more than a piece of machinery to get people from some place and then back for the majority of the population. It’s sad, but percentage wise, few people to day enjoy the drive.
Daniel, let’s not forget the curb feelers.
Not a chance. Four doors on a Corvette are two to many for me.
It’s not a Corvette then. If so, is a Prius a Tesla or Whirlpool a Maytag ? If GM wants to make a 4 door coal powered golf cart, then make it a separate brand.
As a life long Corvette Enthusiast and presently a C8 owner, this isn’t “my cup of tea”. But as Bob Dylan sang “The Times They Are A Changin'” GM will do whatever it takes to sell cars and make a profit.
Leave the four door sedans to the Cadillac brand. They do a great job with that already.
God Forbid 😢 I NEVER liked 4 door vehicles, never mind the subject of an EV Corvette. When Cadillac dropped the CTS Coupe, I knew I would never purchase another Cadillac. Of course if they brought back the Coupe, I would jump at the opportunity to purchase another. Really enjoy my CTS Coupe , the wide body coupe looks great.
No no no! Do not like 4 door Corvette should stay as a 2 door only. I would buy a ev Corvette but it has to be 2 doors. I have a C6 convertible that I love. Do not want an suv Corvette. GM should learn from Ford and the mistakes they made with the T-Bird. Also the Porsche suv looks terrible!
A CORVETTE IS A TWO DOOR SPORTS CAR. I WOULD NEVER BUY IT AS A FOUR DOOR.IT WOULD JUST TAKE AWAY THE SPORTS CAR .
Looks like a more aggressive Tesla Model 3. No for me.
I think its so cool Corvette stays a 2 door sports car. Everyone else has sold out. Not Corvette. I love Corvette for this play! Corvette was never meant to be a family sedan……
Yeah…give me the jacked up, big knobby tire, off road version. Make the winch standard equipment.
