Auto Forecast Solutions says that a new Corvette will be headed to production in the next few years, but it won’t resemble your classic or current Corvette. This new addition to the cross flags line-up is expected to be a Corvette-branded SUV electric vehicle that will start production in May 2026.

This news comes to us via Tuesday’s Autoline Daily #3434.

The forecasting report goes on to say the EV will be built on GM’s modular Ultium platform, with production planned to take place at GM’s Grand River Plant in Lansing, Michigan, instead of the current home of Corvette in Bowling Green, KY.

GM is also planning to produce a large Cadillac EV sedan and an electric Buick SUV at the Grand River EV plant as well.

You can see the Autoline Daily report below with the Corvette segment starting at 1:06.

It’s also been previously rumored that Chevy was thinking about producing a Corvette-branded EV sedan that can compete with Porsche’s Taycan EV. The electric Corvette sedan would be powered by next-generation GM Ultium batteries and GM Ultium drive motors with a maximum driving range of 500 to 600 miles.

  1. I rather the Corvette die a slow death as a model than be reduced to a virtue signaling govt subsidized “pc” rolling appliance. Barras has ruined Gm.

  2. First off i will probably be able to buy that abomination before i recieve my Z 06 and secondly has everyone seen the Mustang ev? enough said.

  3. HEY EVERYBODY – SOMEBODY AT GM IS SMOKING SOME GOOD WEED OR CHEVROLET HAS FINALLY LOST THEIR CORPORATE MIND/INTELLIGENCE IN TRYING TO NAME ANY FUTURE ELECTRIC VEHICLE A CORVETTE _________ .

AFTER 70 PLUS YEARS OF HAVING THE GREATEST SPORTS CAR IN THE WORLD – THERE IS NO REASON TO RUIN THAT REPUTATION WITH ANY VERSION OF ELECTRICITY POWERING A NEW CORVETTE. GM HAS GOT TO QUIT COMPETING WITH PORSCHE.

HERE ARE SOME NAME SUGGESTIONS FOR ANOTHER NEW CHEVROLET ELECTRIC CAR IF NO ONE IN DETROIT CAN BE CREATIVE TO FIND SOMETHING NEW: CHEVELLE, CORVAIR, VEGA, IMPALA, CAVALIER, BEL AIR, NOMAD, NOVA, CAPRICE, MONTE CARLO, CORSICA, BERETTA, COBALT OR SOMETHING FROM THE LAST 100 YEARS OF CHEVY CARS.

BUT DO NOT USE THE WORD “CORVETTE” ON ANY ELECTRIC VEHICLE!!!
THANKS FOR LISTENING. GO CORVETTES – WITH GAS ENGINES.

  4. True Corvette enthusiasts like myself don’t want or need a Corvette SUV, Corvette sedan or any kind of electric Corvette. Keep the Corvette two door, two seat and ICE powered!

  5. In 2021, Ford sold ~27,000 Mustang Mach-Es (SUV EVs), placing them second to Tesla in the EV market. No surprise that GM may follow suit and use its most iconic brand name to sell SUVs. Sure, many of us will complain, but in the end GM will push forward $$$$. Agreed, it’s a hard pill to swallow.

  6. If turning Corvette into a division name like Porsche has become, and that helps to keep the Corvette as we know it, alive, then that’s an acceptable outcome.

  7. NO CORVETTE SUV!! Don’t follow the crowd. Call it something else. After all, the Corvette is AMERICAS SPORTS CAR and should stay that way!

  8. Like the Mach-e or the Purosangre just to mention a couple, this will be another atrocity.
The Corvette is a sports car. Not a boring SUV. SUV’s and crossovers represent the maximum expression of automotive involution. The Corvette doesn’t deserve to incolve like that.

  9. All the models since the C1 have a connection in the Corvette brand. This abomination is coming because the elite government planners are forcing this crap on the citizenry. Will be the end of the Corvette brand. It’s bullshit and I would never park a coal fired golf cart that is a potential fire hazzard in my garage.

  10. I’m sure it will be a fine SUV. But call it something else. Corvette is synonymous with “sport car”. SUVs aren’t sport cars!

  11. I’ll believe it when I see it. Chevy has always stated Corvette was a model not a brand. But I’m sure they are looking at Ford’s Mach-E sales and are drooling. So who knows….

  12. Please don’t. Just don’t. Name it ANYTHING but Corvette. For the love of God, please name it anything but Corvette.
