[VIDEO] StreetSpeed 717 Jumps the C8 Corvette Over and Over Because It Refuses to Break Down

For those Boomers out there like me who think a little rain on their C8 is going to be the end of the world, you’ve just got to watch this latest video posted by Mike Hyssong on his StreetSpeed 717 YouTube channel. It’s better than paying thousands to your therapist, for sure.

Mike says he’s tired of hearing all the negative talk about the new mid-engine Corvette on the internet, so he decided to do something about it.

Boy, did he do something about it!

“Well, I’ve heard about the trans issues and I’ve heard about the engine issues and my car has this problem and I have this check engine light and it’s like, guys, just drive the car. They are tough; they’re built to take some abuse – a lot more abuse than I think anyone but me is ever going to put it through,” Mike says in the video.

He wasn’t kidding.

Mike does his own road rally course in the middle of a bumpy field and manages to beat “Chevy’s other off-road vehicle” – a Silverado ZR2 – in his Rapid Blue Stingray.

That’s chicken feed, though, compared to the next stunts with his C8. Hitting speeds around 40 mph, he manages to do with his Corvette what Burt Reynolds couldn’t do back in the ‘70s with his Trans Am in “Smokey and the Bandit.” While the Bandit went through an indeterminable number of Pontiacs with his shenanigans, Mike was able to make seven – count ‘em, seven – jumps with his Stingray!

Mike admits he expected the first jump would destroy his Corvette, and then he could proceed to do all kinds of unmentionable things with the car, like removing the body panels and putting off-road tires on it.

But Tadge Juechter and his engineering crew at Chevrolet are no fools. During their intensive design work, they must have known someone out there would try to jump seven times in a Stingray, so wow, they went out there and made the car super tough! Tough enough to make at least seven jumps – and survive a little rain getting on the paint, too, if you were still worried about that.

Indeed, after the jumps were done, Mike uses his video camera to show that the car suffered no real damage from all the abuse, including body panels that still lined up, a front splitter still attached though a little dirty and scuffed, no airbags deployed, and that tough-as-a-bullet 6.2-liter LT2 V8 engine still roaring.

Indeed, Mike is so confident in his 2021 Stingray that he decided to put it up for sale on Facebook Marketplace for $79,995 – boasting that it “only has been jumped a handful of times.” Already, he’s got two potential buyers. After watching this video, however, would you take him up on that deal? I think I’ll just stick with a car that’s “never been in the rain.”

  1. I wouldn’t buy jackshit from this stupid ass son of a bitch! Someone needs to take all his car keys away from him.

  2. His mommy must have accidentally dropped him on his head when he was a baby. Definitely something wrong with this guy. He should have stayed in Ukraine to entertain the Azov Nazi troops with his stupidity.

  3. All of the people (really, the masses) out there that would love to have a new C8, and this fool treats his like that. He proves NOTHING about the car, only that he’s just a Tuber out for the views. And, no, I would never purchase that C8. I agree with the above comments, especially Robert’s “someone needs to take his keys away from him”. Salient advice.

  4. I was never really a fan of Mike but could always appreciate his drive and what he has accomplished. He’s got proof of his success. BUT this is making me a fan of him by reading the comments of people grumbling. At the end of the day, why would you care? Anyone that has the want and ability to buy a C8 Corvette has had one or has one already. The only people who would care are people who don’t have the ability to buy one and if they were given it for free would hand wash it and only drive it on sunny days.
