Today is the day that The Stradman’s 2023 Corvette Z06 auction comes to a close and the final bid for the car came in at $218,200.

To be honest, that was cheaper than I expected, and the Stradman is probably kicking himself for not taking the $283K that was offered to him when he first picked up the car last November.

We’ve been keeping our eyes on the Cars and Bids page all day where the Stradman’s Z06 was listed and chat was very lively with people talking about the car. The auction was extended for a couple of hours past its original 12 Noon ET deadline as additional bids continued to add time to the clock. Finally, the additional time added became just 60 seconds for each bid and the auction finally ended just after 2:00 pm ET.

So why not more? Is the market cooling already? Is it the fact that the car is being sold without a warranty? Did the previous transmission leak scare off the big money? We just don’t have enough data on secondary resells of this car to know for sure, but it’s $46,000 or so over the MSRP price, so it’s not like he gave it away.

Yeah, we don’t feel too bad for The Stradman, who says he’ll be taking $100K of the sale and dumping it into his house, which came at over $1 million over budget and he is still trying to get things finished. As for the other $100K, he says he is going car shopping…

  1. The provenance did not add to the sale price. It was well sold for a car without a warranty that has already suffered a warranty issue.

The market is cooling. My local Chevy dealer has 3 new C8s on their lot. And the two closest Corvette Signature dealers have re-opened their Z06 order books.

  2. So after he paid sales tax on original purchase 15k he netted about 30k which is a short term capital gain so maybe 20k l. Getting paid 7k a month to show off a corvette not a bad gig

  3. Now he can really downgrade himself and go buy that new Nissan Z or Toyota Supra that he wants. That’s crazy after owning a brand new Z06.

  4. Another as..ole YouTuber gone out of the Corvette world. He is better off doing Volester videos for the want a be soy boys.

  5. He knew when he took delivery that the cost of building his house was a million over budget but took it anyway,I hope GM follows through with not giving these guys cars that flip them within the 1st 6 months, he probably took away an allocation from Whitmoyer which I have a deposit at and I’m #12 on their list.

  6. Whitmoyer was given the allocations from GM to provide to the specific customers (3 of them). Which in turn would increase their chances of getting more Z06 allocations because they were sold there. So didn’t take away from the public, only helps the public there specifically, especially if they weren’t going to get 3 all year (who knows). Now they very well should. But that is only if you are to believe that is how the system works for GM. Believing and actuality are two different things. Like they were basing Z06 allocations on 3LT sales (they aren’t) But agree, I don’t think GM is profiting because they gave the Stradman one of the first z06 allocations. It is obvious who did though.
